Bama has neither all 2* nor all 5* recruits, so those stats would support the middle ground that your fallacy tried to negate.
It just goes to show that you can win championships with some lower stars on the team. Thanks for proving our point.
Bama under Saban has had very few 2 star commits however you fail to grasp the point of the Alabama results which is that recruiting classes made up of top talent (as indicated by star rankings) produces top results. There is in fact a correlation of recruiting rankings and results which has been posted numerous times but often ignored by posters like yourself.

So let's go recruit all 2 and 3 star players. And let's cut Hurd and TK Jr. loose - Who the heck needs a bunch of 4 and 5 star recruits. And CBJ should stop recruiting Dillon Bates ASAP - we don't need any 5 star players here at UT!!!!
I didn't fail to grasp that point. That's why you haven't heard me once claim that we should sign all 2*s. Nor have I claimed that we should turn away 5*s.
What I have done is make the claim that 2*s have been known to contribute. Your stats prove that championships can be won by teams without all 4* and 5* recruits. Saban's 12-2 season in 2008 was penned by a team with 12 2* recruits and many, many more 3*.
So, unless you want to move on over to the middle ground with me (not all recruits have to be 4-5*, but we better have our share), the stats will not be your friend.
As our class fills out this year, I am becoming confident we'll have our fair share of highly touted recruits, and won't get too worked up about the few that aren't so highly touted.
:hi:
Not impressed with the kid's offer list and before I get blasted, don't give me the garbage about CBJ this and CBJ that...... I heard that noise for 3 years about Dooley.
The last time I checked it was appropriate to have differing opinions about a recruit or a commitment. In fact even the most heralded college football coaches disagree on the talent levels of various recruits. Maybe this guy turns out to be a great player for UT and maybe not. But his offer is nothing to write home about.
I dont mind the middle ground however I do not subscribe to the "Butch gets it" rhetoric" or more specifically the "Since CBJ offered him he must be much better than his rating suggests so any doubters should be scorned and ridiculed and labelled negavols (whatever the latest term is)" camp.
I simply stated that this commit did not have "WR speed" in response to another post. And I said that I was not impressed by his offer list. Now that is not by any stretch of the imagination an overreaction to Dews' recruitment/commitment! Maybe the kid will turn out to be all-world but that will remain to be seen. Can a 2 star player be a contributor? Sure.
