Jeronne Maymons NBA chances...

He is under-sized for the 4 spot, although there are exceptions to the rule. No way he could play the 3.

He has some work to do but he has a chance to get drafted. He's going to have to be a Reggie Evans type of player.

That's who I meant. Not Green.

He could get an opportunity with a really bad organization, like the Hawks, after he proves he can be a great rebounder, in about 5 different countries. I think he be an Ivan Johnson type guy.

. I also agree with the Reggie Evans comparison.

I don't think I'd call Atlanta a "really bad" organization. Charlotte or Toronto is a really bad organization. A team that makes the playoffs almost every year (but can't get past the 2nd or even 1st round usually) is a middle organization, and they have one of the best 15 players in the league on their team. (though he's the most overpaid as well probably)

I'll agree with those who Maymon probably won't stick. He's undersized - probably shorter than his listed 6'7' - and he's not a great leaper. He's a below the rim player who already struggles to finish against bigger post players. He's at his best slashing to the basket, but he's not a great ball handler.

He's a nice college player, and I love watching him in orange, but unless he develops a 3 and/or really grows into a tough guy/defensive stopper off the bench, I doubt he'll last long in the NBA.

I'm sorry, but right now I see Maymon's game translating into a player no one has mentioned. Undersized post, tough nosed defender, limited offensive game... Any guesses?

Kendrick Perkins... Similar height, frame, and defensive tenacity. Anyone expecting Maymon to be drafted for any offensive reason outside of his ability to finish with both hands and bang on the offensive glass is fooling themselves. That being said, there is most definitely a niche for what he gives in the NBA without question IMO.

Isn't Perkins at least 6'10"?

Anyone know how tall Glen "Big Baby" Davis is? I think that's his name. He is the shortest playing big man I've ever seen. If Maymon could develop a shot like him, I could see late first or early second.

6'9" with shoes, so atleast 2 inches on maymon. Plus as you said, Davis has a much better shot than maymon did last we knew.

The best comparison size and game I can come up with us dejaun Blair. He measured 6' 6 1/2" at the draft with shoes and 277lbs, that's pretty close to exactly what maymon would measure. Their games are very similar and the success Blair has had may actually help maymons draft stock. With a good year I see Kate 1st early 2nd, and by good year I mean 13+ppg 10+rbd

DeJain Blair has high shoulders and outrageously long arms too. Dunno how Maymon would measure in comparison.

Paul Millsap and Carl Landry are two other undersized guys who play power forward. Don't think his offensive game is as refined or he's as good of an athlete though.

I just can't see him in the NBA right now. I know I go back to him a lot, but Chism was a better player than Maymon at this point in their careers and had a good run to finish his senior season and still didn't get drafted. You can take all of Chism's "weaknesses" and subtract 2 inches of height and you get Maymon. Maymon might have a better handle but that would be it.

I guess u didnt watch a lot of UT basketball last year...

Maymon had one single game, that went to double OT, where he played out of his mind. But on the whole Chism was better at the end of his Junior year.

I think Maymon is better. He's a lot tougher than Chism. More aggressive, and powerful. Plus you may be forgetting all of the constant bone headed decisions Chism was good for on a regular basis.

No. NBA fan that really likes the Heat and Lakers

Some people would accuse you of being a bandwagon jumper but I bet you've been a Heat fan since Shaq was there and you became a Lakers fan when he went to L.A. to pair up with Kobe. But wait, that would make you bandwagon fan from way back. J/K

Right now draft express has maymon as a 2nd round pick in next years draft, and yes the does include underclassmen declaring.

Here was CCM's thoughts on jeronne being projected as a 2nd rounder..."That's an insult. He's better than that."

Thoughts?
Lacks the perimeter game that a man of his stature requires to play in the NBA.

I could have sworn Perkins was listed at 6'10, but in the trade to the thunder he only measured in @ 6'7" ... Could be wrong on that but...

Lol. I'm a similar kind of bandwagon fan as the UT fans that cheer for Peyton in the NFL. They never cared about the Colts, just Peyton. Likewise, I don't especially care for the Heat, but I really like LeBron, D. Wade, and Kobe. So, I'm really hoping the Heat and Lakers meet in the finals.

BTW, I never overtly said this, but with our little team icons under our usernames, I'm expressing who I'm cheering for in the present. I just added the Lakers icon after the Preds were knocked out of the playoffs. When football season comes, I'll add a Titans icon, and when basketball comes, the UT icon. That's gonna be my thing.
