If he was looking at the college ranks for a coach, i don't think there is a better candidate for the job. Go get em Jerry and let the couch burning and sister beatings begin.

I call b.s. Unless you've taken a mission trip with Saban. Then you can book it.

I hope that happens.

I don't see many "Big Time" guys being available for the Tide unless Stoops is tired of being in Norman.

Butch Davis is probably going to be job hunting, but I don't think Bama will touch him considering the baggage he's now carrying from UNC.

I would love to see the Civil War down there if Bama hired away Malzahn.

I could see Mal sticking to the Saban Tree of coaching.

I'd be interested to see some of the offers that JJ would make.

He currently makes $3.9 million a year. I'd imagine Jerry Jones would double that.

He could triple it if he needed to.

The Cowboys are already set up for the 3-4 and Saban is one of the best 3-4 guys around.

The offense would be overhauled completely though.

No more Felix "I'm hurt every other game" Jones or Roy Williams or Tony Romo. The OL would be completely rebuilt too.

I think JJ understands that if he wants to win another Super Bowl he needs to have a coach that he doesn't necessarily get along with.

He'll look back to Barry Switzer and Jimmy Johnson. Both were collegiate National Champions. I think he'll throw the bank at Saban for that and for what justin said. Saban knows the 3-4 and the Cowboys have, perhaps, one of the most talented defenses in the NFL.

If Saban was going to go back to the NFL now is the time and the Cowboys are the team. Their record sucks but they're far from an old or untalented team.

wouldnt happen that way.. they would meet outside of alabama,

I agree. I have no idea who Jones is interested in, or if Saban is on that list. But it doesn't make sense that Jones would waltz into Tuscaloosa in the middle of football season.

What did he do, come visit Saban in his office during business hours?

It makes perfect sense from Jerry's POV.

I don't know if Saban wants to do it though. He'd be turning down ridiculous amounts of money though if he stays at Bama.

I think if they were to meet over a job opportunity, they would do it outside the state of Alabama.

However, Jerry Jones does have the ego to just waltz right in tell Saban he wants him in Dallas

I'm not sure if Saban would do it. He is a control freak and JJ couldn't stop himself from medling in his coach's affairs if you put a gun to his head.

I don't think Saban leaves Bama to coach the Rams, or Titans, or Bengals, or the Broncos...

But, the Cowboys...that's a different story. I'd be surprised to see him pass that up if given the opportunity.

Would be hard to say "no" if Jerry Jones gave him 10 million reasons to say "yes".

The icing on the cake would be the top of the line facilities. There probably aren't many places you'd rather work/hang out at.

Dan Snyder pays Mike Shanahan $7 Mil a year, you can bet JJ can pony up that much and more.

On a side note, I dont see Cowher leaving the east coast

I did find this interesting post on that atlanta falcons forum of all places...tifwiw...

"I have been told from a very reliable source that Jerry Jones has been in contact with representatives of Nick Saban about possibly becoming the new Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys after this season.

Apparently Jones wants him badly enough to pony up around 10 million dollars per year to the tune of 5 years. I don't see how Saban could possibly turn that down. Of course we will not know for sure until after the season, but you can bet your bottom dollar that Saban will jump all over it. Saban has never stayed at a job for more than 5 years and this is year 4 at Bama.

Alabama fans had to know this was coming at some point. "
