I will also add that the $12K a week or whatever was stated, is a bit off from what he told me he made. This was of course, 25-30 years ago, so a lot has changed since then. But he told me that he made $35,000 over the course of the months that he worked. I’m not sure how many months of the year a team was practicing then (or now). But I’m guessing 6 months? I remember thinking back then that was pretty good money for a partial year of work, probably what an RN or equivalent field was making per year at the time. But hearing him describe the physicality of what he went through, I totally understood his position.Too bad he couldn't have latched on somewhere else.
Maybe I'm missing something. The current "Official UT" 2023 roster has 16 DB's listed. Three of those are gone via graduation and/or transfer. Five are walk-on's. That leaves 8 scholarship DBs. We have 4 incoming freshmen and 2 transfers. That gives us only 10 scholarship DB's with college coaching. Some of those have not taken meaningful snaps in a game. Conclusion: We are critically thin at DB. Has to be the biggest area of concern right now.I'm talking about strictly CBs.
We are almost up to 20 DBs ourselves.
That makes sense. 25 to 30 years ago I'm sure there was a huge difference from that 12500$ amount that they get weekly starting this year.I will also add that the $12K a week or whatever was stated, is a bit off from what he told me he made. That’s unbelievable, great work. That makes sense. 25 to 30 years ago I'm sure there was a huge difference from that 12500$ amount that they get weekly starting this year.
From a search I did a few weeks ago discussing the PS salaries with someone else recently....
The minimum salary for NFL practice squad players if $12,000 per week. If a player has accrued at least two seasons, their minimum salary is $16,100 per week and maximum salary is $20,600 per week. If a player with fewer than two seasons is on the practice squad for all 18 weeks, they would earn $216,000.Sep 7, 2023
It's more the product of COVID & the transfer portal.Does anyone not think all these DB's leaving is a little bit questionable. Just doesn't seem like a normal situation going on here.
