Follow them, did my residency there and held a postdoctoral position in Dr. Ignarro's lab. I have absolutely zero inside sources when it comes to UT, but from my postdoctoral position especially I'm fairly well connected to UCLA.

Six degrees of Kevin Bacon. I hold a graduate degree from UCLA and remain active with the university. A lot of alums and donors work in the industry, and it's a pretty tight circle. Some were involved in last year's coaching search, and I followed it closely. My point was just that UCLA can afford to keep Mora, who's very happy and succeeding at UCLA. We could get into specifics, but it doesn't pertain to UT, so I'll leave it at that.

According to coacheshotseat.com, Mora's base salary is only $1.25M, less than the HC at Navy, Rutgers, Utah, & UCF. So Tennessee can afford him.

BTW, Dooley & Joker Phillips are obviously no longer on the hot seat list. And guess whose seat is ranked 6th hottest among FBS coaches? Our old pal Lane Kiffin!!

Anyone with the (at least somewhat successful) NFL head coaching experiences should be heavily considered. I especially like his defensive background. IMO, in this league, if you have a good defense, you always have a chance to win, but if you have a bad defense (like we do right now), you have no chance to win.

No they aren't, if we are really willing to pull out the checkbook UCLA has proven in the past that they are not willing to pay. Mora is the highest paid coach in UCLA history and is not even making 3 million a year.

Exactly.

Mora makes like 1.7 million with a $100,000 retaining bonus. In his 5th year his salary is around 2.5 million. Its no secret he would like to coach in the sec. UCLA would not match what Tennessee could pay if they go in that direction.

Boom!

Mora comes across as an over-sensitive blowhard cry baby when it comes to the media.

I liked him while he was at ATL as the HC. The whole MV thing screwed him down there. His NFL ties would definately help him in recruiting. UCLA looked pretty solid yesterday.

Seeing what he has done in UCLA in such a short time is pretty impressive. I remember him in ATL and quite frankly I feel like he'd be one heck of a recruiter. He reminds me of a more proven lame kitten. (please don't shoot!) He's probably still 3rd on my wish list behind gruden and stoops, but I think he'd be a steal for this team and could get the fanbase behind this team in a hurry. What to ya'll think?...

I'm intrigued by your objection...please explain.

Does not handle the media, criticism or adversity for that matter well at all. It's almost like he's manic or something.

I also dealt with him personally one time and he acted like he was Madonna or something.

Heard him on ESPN earlier today and he sounded just fine. I imagine if his issues are as severe as you suggest, they would show up pretty easily during the interview process.

Not when he's winning.
