Jimbo Is Losing Control of His Program

We dont control any 18's earning potential. Heck there are at least hundreds making more off of being influencers/Tik Tokers/ or OnlyFans. What about movie stars? Basketball players can go after 1 year. Baseball can go straight into the big money. College NIL is pretty far down the earning potential of these others.

Long live the NIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are 18 year old young men. How do you propose giving them a a child's "allowance" on money they earned like that? And why do responsible young adults need to be treated the same as irresponsible? Some kids just weren't raised right. Some coaches don't do a good job weeding them kind out when recruiting.

That's true. But these days, it's win at any cost, whether financial cost or human cost, so it likely doesn't matter either way. Just Admiral Farragut it.

It's the only possible outcome because the NCAA went full potato on the subject, instead of making controlled changes that would be palatable. it was so bad SCOTUS came in and unanimously slapped them down so hard they are still trying to figure out up from down. Cant fault the players at all for making their own money as adults.

It’s fully guaranteed he don’t give a rats ass either way

Trust me, I would wager there are some very high powered attorneys scattered around Texas exploring just how "guaranteed" Jimbo's contract really is.

Players smoking weed in the locker room is pretty bad. Smoking in the visitors locker room is worse. Smoking in the visitors locking room after an embarrassing loss is nuclear.

If there not some loophole or vagueries in that contract somewhere, would be shocking.

Fish rots from the head. Always.

$86 million is a good chunk of change, no doubt. How much have they got tied up in last year's NIL class though? Another $50 million or so? Same for 2023? Cutting Jimbo a check for $40 million and saying see ya in a mutually agreed separation would be an ideal scenario for them. He has no incentive to leave though.

Agricultural has a really interesting psyche. They have been little brother for so long they are desperate to win. I seriously mean more desperate than we were for the last 15 years.

They just can't stand not being a top team. It eats at them. Day and night.

By the way, "agricultural" is kind of a Texas style insult for that school. Their alumni absolutely hate it when referred to in that manner. I have seriously seen bar fights. Very weird.

Team seems young & undisciplined. I see growing pains more than abject an coaching performance. Lights could come on if they find a competent QB. Their time is due, just not this yr.

If this, https://2michy3wy0l30d34041dt1et-wp...ads/sites/3/2015/10/Jimbo-Fisher-Texas-AM.pdf, is indeed his original contract it has a morality clause in it. I would imagine the extensions just amend the length and compensation. I could be wrong though.

The game has passed Jimbo by like it does with a lot of head football coaches.

Did it pass him by or did he ever really have "it" to begin with?

I mean, he's had what like 2 great seasons out of 15 or so now right? Both with Jameis. Had a large number of clunker teams as well.

Face it man, no Jameis and Jimbo was probably relegated to Butch Jones status long ago.

Jimbo has been disappointing and extremely overpaid at A&M, but there's been a lot of selling short of his career because of that. He's 10x the coach Butch Jones is.

Jimbo has had 2 great seasons, both with Crab Legs. He also went 9-1 in the COVID year, finishing #4 in the AP and had an argument to be in the CFP. He's had 5 other good/solid seasons - 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, and 2016. His first 2 seasons at A&M were not bad either, especially 2019. He lost 5 games but they were to the #1, #8, #1, #4, and #2 teams in the country.

He's only had one clunker, in 2017, although he's firmly on his way to another this year. If you assume this year is also a clunker, he's had 2 truly bad seasons in 13 years.

I was glad that their loss to App finally shed some light on how weird their "traditions" are. Every school has unique stuff that they do, and it means a lot only to the fans of the school, but for the most part I think non-fans can look at them and go "Oh, that's kind of cool." Like the eagle flying at Auburn, Osceola and Renegade with the flaming spear at FSU, etc.

A&M, on the other hand...the "Yell Leader" stuff is just weird s**t.

It’s really bizarre. The whole strut and hitch when telling stupid ass stories and jokes is just… I don’t even know.

Yeah - I went back and edited my post to specifically the Yell Leader crap. "Howdy," "Gig 'em," I mean...all schools have sayings, that's fine. Reveille is a pretty dog, that's fine.

The Yell Leaders + all this stuff (Glossary of Texas A&M University terms - Wikipedia) is just weird.

Jimbo Fisher is a dead man walking and i think the Millionaire and Billionaire Texas A&M Alumni are pooling their money to pay Jimbo's 86 million dollar buyout and i think he will be gone in December.
Or they could fire him for cause, even if the charges are trumped up, and save lots of money.
