ridiculous, just slinging money to not come up empty handed instead of getting your money's worth on a known commodity.

Strong is making a big mistake if he bypasses UT and stays at Louisville. He won't get another shot anytime soon.

This. There won't be a good SEC job opening for a long time unless something crazy happens....or we're looking for another coach in 3 years....

Also heard we countered UL's offer with $3.5 mil....is Strong worth that?

Not really UofL will be in acc next year and be a contender right away and UL has a budget wich surpasses FL. ST. By 3 mill. I believe. So I think he'll have an upgrade weather he stays or leaves IMO.

Devils advocate:

but then will you bich and moan that Hart doesn't "step up" for the guy he wants if we get a far more undesirable coach?

People do complain that UT won't spend money. Well here you go.

Disagree, UofL and the ACC is not the SEC.

If it's an upgrade for UL because he leaves and they are going to the ACC, then I don't think it will be an upgrade for us.

I don't think it is an arguement of if they will spend money on now, I think it is an arguement on how much money we can waste or just throw away on the unknown in 5 years.

It's said the right price is the one that gets you your guy. Hart thinks he's the guy so he's doing everything he can to get him. Money makes no difference if you hire the wrong . person.

I doubt we see this drag on past tomorrow.Hart will have a sure fire contingency in his back pocket if Strong says no.

If Strong is so great at recruiting, then WHY? we do not see any big names being committed to L-ville, ESPN 150 the top players coming out this year none are going to L-ville, there's no way he's worth $3.5 , just bring back Fulmer, hell he's already getting paid

I agree to a point. But if he is comfortable and Lville will make him uber-rich too, why leave? Right now he has to beat Clemson and FSU to win the ACC. THAT IS IT. He does that and he is worshipped where he is at. He'll get to huge bowl games and make his school lots of $$$...which means bonuses for him. Hell..he wins 8-9 games per year in the ACC and he'll still be a legend at Lville.

The other option is to come here and finish the re-build CDD started and hope that the offensive players return...all the while getting to compete w/ LSU, UGA, Bama and Florida.

I know we are UT, but times have changed. The SEC has made itself a monster that some coaches don't see worth the challenge when they can stay outside and have an easier ride to a title shot. That's why the Boise, TCU and possibly Lville coaches stay put when they may not have 5 or 10 years ago. They can reach the promised land w/o having to deal w/ the stress of the SEC.

It's better than missing out on him, and hiring someone like Sonny Dykes. Even Butch Jones.

Am I the only one who was so naive to think that when it came to guys like strong, fedora, mora Jr and gundy that we basically would just pick who we want and they would be here? Now it seems like we can't get any of them. I had severe delusions of grandeur that's for sure. What have we become????????
