JJJ 2 two tournament games sums up his entire career perfectly:

Unfortunately this is true. Overall appreciate his effort and how he represented himself and the university. Great VFL, good leader and teammate, and was a Swiss Army knife so to speak on the court, and while he turned out to be a good college player, I think it is fair to say he was overrated as well coming in as a 5 star, McDonald’s All-American. His inconsistency on the offensive end just never could be resolved. Hope he gets streaky for the upcoming tournament and ends his career on a high note.

He just completely lacks that alpha personality needed to be great. He has just a pretty good player here. Not sure why he makes me so angry. I should have took him for who he was a long time ago. The thing about it is he usually is a consistent at the other parts of the game except offense. Today his whole game was off. Let the fat kid drive right past him on a key defensive possession and the technical was inexcusable.

ON showed and was aggressive--just cannot play defense

He's the one guy on this team that struggles with footwork. He just gets contorted and puts himself out of position so often. We had no answer for Brown. Everyone was either too small or not quick enough for him.

Talk about overrated--what about Phillips? comes in as a five star and actually seems out of place in a rugged SEC battle. No strength and no shot. Probably great upside but not close to our last three one and done guys

He's not the caliber of Miller at bama, but Phillips has had a pretty solid freshman season. Hope he returns.

Don’t give up on Phillips. He just needs to fill out and get some coaching. Played somewhat out of position as a frosh at the 4 in my opinion, and nothing was run for him. Guy is only getting 6 shots per game and still averages 9 per game. He is a better rebounder and defender than I would have thought, but needs work in a lot of areas. Really needs some strength as he was bounced around a lot.

It would probably be best that some people get away from the computer and cool down a while before posting. James has been streaky, I agree. None of us know what his knee/ankle feels like, only he does. I have had knee and back issues dating all the way back to high school football and still at times feel it to this day (44 years later) He has kept us in many games through the years, and what losses we have had has been a team loss. If anyone says this team does not play with all they got, well, they are watching a different team than I am. If he had another year, would take him back in a heartbeat. Now, the team has some time to mend up and make a run. Have been, am, and always will be proud to say ITS GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL.

Phillips hasn't looked the part of a 5 Star and it seems there is only two or three of those guys each year around the country that do. But I think he has had a good freshman season. I think the services give out 5 star ratings like they are candy to sell their product. Most of these guys should be 4s. A guy like Miller or the kid from Auburn last year are what a 5 star should look like.

I don't understand why ppl call college athletes

"Kids" they 18-22 young adults

Me neither unless they are the age of the "kid" at South Carolina. He really is a kid. I guess I can see it about an 18 or 19year old in a non-literal sense but not a player of James age and experience.

I Just think the overreaction and the back and forth are what makes message boards fun. I went too far with it this time but it's still fun.

There was one play late in the game in which Brown got the ball edge of the paint and just backed JJJ deeper and deeper until he was practically under the basket. It was obvious that one of our centers needed to come over and double him, and had either Aidoo or Awaka (can't remember who it was) done so, Brown would have been in difficulty. But he didn't and Brown scored. We just don't match up well with Missouri--or they seem to play quite well against us. But we were not good enough defensively. We gave up almost 80 points--and that's almost always going to be an L for us. We have to keep teams under 70/72 max.

If there is any benefit to this game, it's that this game was physical and that should help in the NCAA, when games tend to be a bit more physical once you get past the first round or two. Many of our opponents this year mentioned how physical we were, but I think Missouri is very physical and they give us problems as a result. They are physical on both ends of the court.

Understand. As soon as I saw it was over, I went outside and walked a couple of miles and was calmed down by the time I got back. Love my Vols, and I know most on here do. JJJ will always be known as a VFL and a great representative for the university. Now, lets make a deep run in the tourney that matters.

That’s my takeaway too. I hate it, because I love JJJ. When he’s on, he’s really good. He’s basically a microcosm of this team. I really wish he could string together 3-4 awesome games in a row in the NCAAT.

Tennessee needs to guard the three point line well in the NCAA Tournament or they may be looking at another one and done weekend.

ORN played pretty well. Aidoo/Uros didn’t give us much.

Uros is the one of the softest big men I’ve ever seen. He chirps a lot but only has one post move. I haven’t been impressed with Aidoo but see a lot of upside with Awaka.

He is pathetic. I wish he would have went pro or kept whining about his sore knee and stayed out. He will put up 25 against some low major in round one and we will get his entourage on here talking about how great he is. Then
he will lay an egg in round two.

Who's pathetic - the young man who has given his all to the program and represented UT basketball with class or the message board troll who has the emotional control of a child? No contest.

You may have a right to your opinion, but your opinion frankly sucks. Maybe you're a kid, in which case you get a pass. Otherwise I suggest for your own sake that you keep your stupidity under wraps by keeping your mouth shut.

I love the kid and hoped all year he would take it to the rim regardless of outcome as he is the only athletic player who can attack. He struggles to catch the ball and fumbles it away in traffic. Maybe it’s skill or maybe is mental.

With that said, I am surprised that some think he will be a top 35 pick in the NBA draft. Hopefully he returns as I think he can be the most improved player next season IF he puts in the work and accepts coaching.

We will lose in round 1, this team has no juice without ZZ.
