JJJ 2 two tournament games sums up his entire career perfectly:

I think this whole team has been like JJJ. In a situation where we need a basket, there is not one reliable person. Maybe Vescovi? Maybe not. In the past you had Grant Williams, Schofield, Bone, Chandler. We don't have that, not even ZZ.
So, I think this whole team has been up and down all year. Frustrating..
I wish they would win it all, but sort of be glad when the season is over ( no not a fair weather fan.... Season tix since 1980)

He is pathetic. I wish he would have went pro or kept whining about his sore knee and stayed out. He will put up 25 against some low major in round one and we will get his entourage on here talking about how great he is. Then
he will lay an egg in round two.
Ignominy + ignorance = IGNORE. Look into a mirror for the definition of "pathetic".

Go pro, where China? I guarantee he won’t get 25 in the first round.

Game 1: 6/13 shooting, 7 Rebs, 2 Ast, 2 TO, 20 points

Game 2: 1/7 shooting, 1 Reb, 3 Ast, 3 TO, 3 points

Feel like that sums up his entire career. One game plays out of this world. Then next is a complete no show
So true. It would be great if he could string together 4 or 5 good games in the big dance. If he does we will be hard to put out. If he lays an egg like he did tonight we could get booted early.

Anyone who tries and discredits JJJ and says he hasn't represented the university extremely well is either lying or just trolling. He's exactly what you want as a student athlete representing.

Now to the point of my OP. There's probably not a single poster on this board who could sit here and say they aren't upset with the lack of consistency from JJJ over his career. These past 2 games are a perfect microism of his career.

Talk about overrated--what about Phillips? comes in as a five star and actually seems out of place in a rugged SEC battle. No strength and no shot. Probably great upside but not close to our last three one and done guys
I'll take Phillips over JJJ any day. He takes it to the basket and only a freshman.

No, what is pathetic is being butthurt that a college basketball team lost and taking out your childish frustration on one of the players. The only one whining here is you.

There was one play late in the game in which Brown got the ball edge of the paint and just backed JJJ deeper and deeper until he was practically under the basket. It was obvious that one of our centers needed to come over and double him, and had either Aidoo or Awaka (can't remember who it was) done so, Brown would have been in difficulty. But he didn't and Brown scored. We just don't match up well with Missouri--or they seem to play quite well against us. But we were not good enough defensively. We gave up almost 80 points--and that's almost always going to be an L for us. We have to keep teams under 70/72 max.

If there is any benefit to this game, it's that this game was physical and that should help in the NCAA, when games tend to be a bit more physical once you get past the first round or two. Many of our opponents this year mentioned how physical we were, but I think Missouri is very physical and they give us problems as a result. They are physical on both ends of the court.
You may be referring to a point in the game when we were playing basically a 5 guard lineup. Vescovi, James, Key, Mashack, and Phillips. I consider Phillips a guard due to his lack of strength.

Hes 22. Hes not a kid. And he does look pathetic out there at times. His moments of greatness make it even more frustrating.
As humans go, you really drop yourself to a filthy level when you call JJJ pathetic. What is it in your brain that even allows you to go there? Do you have any decency at all? You can do better. Just make a change, man.

I think the scheme is pathetic! Folks, it's time for coach Barnes to take some of the blame! We came out of halftime, & was filed 4 or 5 times pretty early & had a chance to get some points at the FT line. When we are hitting our 3's, it's all good. When we are not, we are in trouble. We must attack the rim! Our FT shooting may not be that good, but we can dictate how the defense plays when they are in foul trouble! When we hit a 3, Missouri would just come down the court a hit a 3. We would come out a guard them but we would not get all the way in the shooters face like they did us! The offense is just too slow & when we have a chance to run & take it to the rim,we just pull up & set up this offense! Our passing was terrible! We always just make this extra non needed pass that results in a turnover, our shooters should just take the shot! When we get the ball in the paint we look to pass first! What is with Aidoo & Awaka sitting the bench a lot in the 2nd half? Missouri's coach is really good, & look at Vandy. J Stackhouse has coached his boys up! These younger coaches are SCARY in the SEC!

Barnes ultimately takes the blame. But no coach gets everything exactly right. It starts with recruiting (and staffing), but no coach - especially a coach not at a blue blood, is able to add EVERY player they want to add. So they make adjustments and adapt as best they can with what they have on the current roster. Injuries and other forms of attrition are also things that have to be managed.

I’ve never seen a TN team so heavily weighted toward or focused on defense like this one. So I’d assume that the staff knows what they have and are doing what they can to win as much as possible. Without a rim protector that is also reliable to not blow their primary defensive assignment, this year’s defense can’t have any weak links. The talent on offense isn’t enough to compensate for many defensive errors. Next year it doesn’t appear as if the roster will be as offensively challenged.

It might not be real entertaining for some to watch right now, but the objective is to win games. Not to look pretty trying. Playing GREAT defense is what gives the 2022-23 team the best chance to win games.

Please - as in the poster can't be serious. We won't sniff a Sweet 16.

It isn’t impossible. Win the opening round, hopefully the draw won’t be horrible, and then win a game. TN has beaten #1 and two other highly ranked teams. TN is overdue for some good luck as well.

Coach K used to have a TV show in which he interviewed other coaches. He asked Bob Huggins what type of players he tries to recruit. His answer was whoever we can get. We don't get to pick choose like some of you do.
