He sets all-SEC screens and is great at switching.

In all seriousness, who do you bench him for? Mashack has no offensive production, either.
I would give Awaka some of his minutes at the 4… he’s a reliable rebounder and will get you 2 or 3 buckets inside. His free throw percentage has improved if I’m not mistaken as well.Mashack is also an option.

I was ok with Vescovi coming back but wasn’t very excited about hearing that JJJ was returning.
Same. The way JJJ is playing shouldn't be a shock to anyone. We've seen this before. In the past, it's been a few bad games in a row then he'd have a good one, and then dissappear in the NCAA tourney.

He's struggled over a month now.

I don't understand the desire to keep playing JJJ like he is an all star. If you ask me who are you going to replace him with I say anybody off that bench that would have played with energy and passion. Tired of seeing the same people not producing but getting all the playing time.

He don't fit Barns system, look what that vandy player that transferred to sc did last night to Tn. He lit Tn up with threes and free throws, he was just average at vandy but fits right in at little sc. and he didn't choke either.

He plays weak and afraid. He can’t attack the rim because he’s soft and he has no confidence in his shot. It’s a disappointment but it’s time to move on.

If CRB told Mashack to be another scoring option, I’m confident he’d find a way to be just that. He’s shown flashes of what he can be on the offensive end. He knows how to carve out his role real well, which is exactly why he’s our best defender.

Saying JJJ sucks on offense? What's untrue about that?
He could shoot better and likely he will moving forward. Otherwise he plays his role very well, or he wouldn't be playing as much as he does. It's not like we're strapped for talent.
Maybe you haven't read a lot of the comments. There's some serious insecurity on display.

They did this for a couple of minutes but it's time to give it a longer look. There's gonna be a drop off with ballhandling for sure. Can it be made up in other areas?

He does a lot of things well but he has to at least be a little bit of a threat on the offensive end. It's not just him unfortunately that's bad offensively but he's 5th year guy getting the most minutes.

As frustrating as it can be to witness our propensity to gravitate towards offensive ineptness (by several players not just JJJ) I trust Rick and his staff to give minutes to who they think gives us the best chance to win. SC game clearly wasn’t our best. Lets see how the team reacts. Every top 10 team is finding hard sledding right now. I’m sure NC site is crashing too after losing to….Georgia Tech???

It's embarrassing how Jekyll and Hyde so many so-called VFLs are depending on the results of a game or two. JJJ is having a bad stretch.. he has earned his place on the court and as long as CRB is ok playing him we should be also. Stop the silliness. The TEAM lost they will win many more games and this will be motivation. We get to pay them back in march at their house.

JJJ isn’t putting up an impressive stat line for the things that are easy to measure. But he’s getting more minutes on a team that’s been in the top 10 all but 2 weeks this year. Maybe he’s doing far more good things that casual fans don’t realize but his coaches can see.

Sure his 3 point average is way off. But he isn’t hurting the team by taking 10 shots a game and he isn’t taking zero letting defenses ignore him either.

Will triple J ever score again that is the question? Kenecht 31 points on 24 shots. Rest of the team 28 points on 34 shots. If they can't give him any help going to be a lot of these games. Just totally inept offensively nothing to speak of from Aidoo, Ziegler, JJJ, and the inconsistent Gainey. Were not going anywhere if some of these guys can't get a little more consistent in their scoring.

Exactly. The reason we looked so good against Florida, Alabama, and Vanderbilt. We got enough from the other guys. We can't continually get 15% from the field from guys 3-8. It's the difference in scoring 60-70 and 80-90.

Santi is coming around to a solid level. ZZ, Gainey, and JJJ need to give us at least 33% from 3 if nothing else.

Correct. He's always played tentatively on offense for some reason. Now in his mid 20s he's lost a step due to all the miles he's accumulated which just compounds things.
He's not got that aggressive personality some like ZZ and Knecht have. He's been asked to "lead" but I'm not sure he's the type. Plus, his health is seemingly always in question. He's just like ON in that there are games where you get excited and think the light has finally come on only to see him pull a Houdini and disappear again. He's not a freshman or sophomore. At this point, he is what he is. Still wonder if his return hurts us more than it helps due to Barnes playing him to the detriment of our freshmen development.

I think Barnes feels obligated to play him, he’s seems completely lost on the offensive end right now. I recall him having some success mid-range a few years back. I think we need to make a more concerted effort to get him a few looks within the first few possessions like they do with Aidoo if we are going to keep playing him. We are relying way too much on Dalton to try and carry the offense. I’m worried that if they keep riding him everyone else is going to keep fading their shots and continue to lose confidence.

I defended JJJ from the perpetual haters earlier this year and called him perhaps our most consistent player thru the first 12 games. I'd stand by that, today.

But since the turn of the year, he's been awful. I don't know what happened, but if you go and look at his game log, there is a stark difference in his first 12 games and his last 9 games.

Since 1/1/24...
12-45 from the field, 26.7%
2-18 from 3, 11.1%
4-5 from the FT line, 80%

Just brutal. He's got to be better. Got to find a way to bring some offensive production. Got to get to the line.

Went from our most consistent players those first 12 games. To our worst player in these last 9. Like a switch got turned off on him
