lol:
He walked out of the mine and all the way home after a friend of his was killed, what the hell did the union have to do with that?
He was never in a union either.
You're the one complaining about the powers of unions. What rights do any of the "unions" you named have that are ruining education?
How 'bout walking off the job or suing to prevent charter schools. That last one is the new frontier in preventing competition and maintaining their monopoly. Better yet, why do they oppose homeschooling? That's an official position.
Remember Chicago? Those teachers should've been fired immediately for what they did. But it was for the children.............lol.
I know you guys are talking about unions & stuff but this is a jobs report thread. Did ya'll hear or read about Microsoft is going to be laying off some 18,000 employees. This effects 14% of it's workforce. Some 1,350 Seattle-area workers around Mirosoft's Redmond, Washington headquarters were notified Thursday. Now where are these people going to find anything job related to an already depleted job market here in the good old USA? Time to stand in the bread line for those folks. Thanks to this great economic recovery we're in.
That's why roughly half of college freshmen have to take remedial courses. I mean, I just don't know what the hell is going on.
Public education in America has been a failure.

Once again none of the "unions" you named in TN, SC, VA, or NC are doing these things. Because they don't have the power.

I was surprised to read this today. I have two separate friends of mine who each within the past quarter have been sought out by recruiters and moved forward with interviews with Microsoft (both positions in Redmond).
It looks like a lot of the job cuts will be a result of streamlining the Nokia acquisition.
In M$'s defense a lot of those employees work in the Xbox dept and the new CEO is reorganizing the company and downsizing Xbox.
In this report it says nothing about Xbox employees that work there being effective by this layoff. It says Microsoft has been shifting it's focus from traditional PC software to cloud computing & cloud-based products like it's Office 365 productivity software that can operate on mobile devices.
This AP report talks about Microsoft will streamline it's Nokia mobile devices.
