Joe Milton 2.0 (merged)

Yes it is. Benching Nico to start Moore could cause a snowstorm of problems.

Absolutely true, but not when you see the real thing as simply an extension of Madden, like so many on here appear to believe.

It's not just plugging in a player for another one. This kid is the culmination of the early Heupel recruiting classes, the one to set the table for future recruits to see and to want to play with and follow as the next 'guy'. Dump Nico now and you might as well shut the program down and start over, that's how quickly recruits will bail.

There's also the locker room. Bench this kid now, which is virtually conceding the season, and you lose the team. The last year and half was spent building toward Nico being the guy and the leader, and you're going to pull the plug after one (or even two or three) loss? The insanity of even thinking this way is mind boggling.

Let the kid grow up on the job, which will include mistakes as he learns. Growing pains suck, but burning the house down isn't the answer.

he hasn’t played football very long. Only way he’s going to get better is with live reps. Your expectations were he was going to be a 6’6” version of a heisman winner from day 1? Sounds like a you problem tbh
Day 1? It's been 22 months since he's been here

True but being here and facing live SEC defenses are 2 vastly different things. No way watching from the sideline and practice can prepare you for live bullets in this league. No, you learn by going through the fires of this conference. Even arguably the greatest QB the game has seen struggled in his early days. The game will slow down for him at some point. When it does, we'll see the Nico we all have been waiting for. Until then, he's gonna need time and some solid coaching. Fans just need to stay off his back and let this progression take place. One thing Manning didn't have to deal with was this scourge known as social media where every yahoo has a platform. Just hope he's able to filter it out and focus on school and his team.

If practice didn't prepare them for it, then they wouldn't be practicing. He's 6 games in, it should be slowing down for him by now. Every wants to act like he's a true freshman, he's not.

That's about the level of QB play we've had
Actually, it's more appropriate to say it's the level of the OT play we've had. A QB or a RB for that matter don't do much without the line playing well. That, for me, is the biggest disappointment of the Heupel era. It's a position of development and we've failed miserably in that area so far. Hope things change, but I'm not very confident. And no, I have no faith in the NIL process being the answer. It takes a kid a year to get accustomed to this offense and pace. We thought Brazzell would be the "man" but what has he done? Same with Heard. Hate to say it, but maybe Dabo is on the right track. Get your kids and develop them in your system. Look at how Clemson is doing now. Look at the service academies and how together and disciplined they are. Most of these NIL guys are either looking for a payday or they can't get on the field at their current school. At the level we aspire to as a program, how are those types going to help us?

Damn man, it really isn't possible for you to make it more clear how utterly clueless you are about the sport. Please stop while you're way behind.

Good points, and I think we'll see that the top programs get back to heavy recruiting / development and the portal start to slow down a bit as kids see how growing in a program and sticking through the rough times will better prepare them for the NFL.

This ain't Madden, where you can plug talent in and it's seamless, which we (and others) are finding out the hard way. I'd love to see kids like Mathews, Nimrod, and Webb, who are growing in the system, get a shot this week. Regarding the OL, there's no place where system development is more vital. The losses we suffered can't just be papered over with transfers.

Honestly, if we have to play guys who are hurt instead of our healthy backups, I have to question the WR recruiting and coaching. I know they're not starters for a reason, but geez, are they that unprepared that we have to put a guy out there who's in a kind of soft cast? Thorntons leg is a problem and who knows what's wrong with White or how badly he's hurt. I'd assume we recruited them because we felt they could play at this level. If a 17 year old can come in and light up defenses, surely our guys can fill in for injured guys and just be solid with an occasional play here and there?

Clemson? They were totally outclassed by Georgia

Heupel says the problem is everyone working together. The real problem is the Oline. It's been that way since game 1. For Pete's sake, Nico was hurried and sacked by Kent State.

How did we go from world beaters to chicken little in such a short time? They will do better folks. Lots of inside baseball from the TN transfers to Arky is what I read. When your playing against a made hand sometimes you fold

Do you really think this? Really?
