Joe Milton 2.0 (merged)

Milton was a 6+ year QB. Nico has played 6 games.

Just drop the mic right here. You completely destroyed the OP.

I would just add that the OL play against Arky was abysmal. It’s really hard to say how much was on Nico with OL play like that.

It’s really hard for a QB to play well when his OL plays badly. Even harder for a young QB to do so.

We’ve only had two double digit win seasons in 20 years. Some of those years we had rosters loaded with NFL talent but only in 2022 did we have a Heisman candidate at QB. The only time we had the best passer in the country was in 2022 and it wasn’t even close the rest of those 20 years.
And we aren't even close now either. Nico can barely break 150 against any P5 teams. We've had plenty of years with qb play better than this

Yes it is. Benching Nico to start Moore could cause a snowstorm of problems.
It could absolutely cause problems. Anyway, it’s not like Nico has been bad. Sure he has made some mistakes, but he is young. Him making mistakes as he is learning and gaining valuable experience shouldn’t be a huge surprise. He is going to be very good in time, IMO it would be a huge mistake to bench him now.

Heupel been protecting him the whole time and then he doesn’t do so with the game on the line. Why didn’t he call the timeout earlier and actually give his qb time to make some things happen. You play vanilla the whole time and then you let them score and make it your QBs job to score a touchdown to win the game with a 1.30 and essentially no clock management? Doesn’t compute. I don’t blame Nico.

Benching Nico ain’t happening and doesn’t need to. That’s asinine. Play calling needs to be better. Oline pass protect needs to be better.
The most important thing is for Nico to improve

Play calling is fine

The O line has to be better but that will be helped by more decisiveness from Nico.

Beyond a doubt. No way you make that move. Plugging in a physically less gifted player isn't going to change things. We need better OL play...much, much better. That's obvious. Still, why are we blaming players only? Arky made some changes that we admitted we hadn't seen on tape. The hog coaches actually COACHED and pulled off the upset. Where's our coaching? Where's our adjustment before and during games? We're going to continue seeing this defense until we show we've got answers to it. Since it's been a problem since Heupel was going against Tulsa back in the day, I'm gonna guess he's not found the answers yet? No, this isn't all Nico. This is coaching, too. Heupel and co. need to do something to help this kid out and just going into a shell to protect him isn't coaching. It's surrender. Time for this staff to start showing they deserve the money they're making.

I think everyone agrees he needs to be better. You’re acting like he’s a finished product when he’s still really green as far as being a player
He's been here 22 months. If he's still green then that's a huge problem. Was told he's supposed to be a 6'6 Bryce young but he plays more like DJU

The Volgod makers don't want to hear common sense. But here's a bit more just the same.

he hasn’t played football very long. Only way he’s going to get better is with live reps. Your expectations were he was going to be a 6’6” version of a heisman winner from day 1? Sounds like a you problem tbh
