Chryst can't... he's very accurate on short-midrange throws but he doesn't have a vertical arm

JG's got the arm for it but I don't know that I trust his accuracy on a deep ball I don't want him throwing 50/50's deep on 1st/2nd down haha... Maurer looked like he could deliver it but... obviously not this year... haven't seen much film on Shrout

JG and Chryst + Shrout all have the arm to throw deep. Chryst has better accuracy then what he is being given credit for.

Shrout will be something here I believe...

That's not "touch"... that's a weak-armed deep ball that results in INTs in the SEC

You saw the same film we did apparently lol

I'll agree to disagree. I'll wait until either Chryst, JG, or Shrout are slinging it in Fall practice, but what I saw was not a weak arm.

Both candidates can make all the throws. Self narrative fiction is so 2017. :)

More like butthurtness.

Both are real good. Both will be real good. One will start and hopefully win lots of the footzballs. But it is our way to have to trash one to make the other seem better.

Agree! Chryst’s deep throws looked really good to me, as well..

Not seeing a weak arm or lack of a deep ball in his repertoire...

I'm not trashing Chryst... I think he is the better QB by a lot in our camp... with reads, check downs, accuracy, footwork, arm motion, etc...

He just doesn't throw a very good deep ball

... Oregon and USC are the only two teams in the Pac12 that come close to an SEC defense... he made like one deep throw in the past two years that looked like a good deep ball vs those two teams... after the guy caught the pass, believe it was 2 years ago vs Oregon I remember the booth saying something like... Well, you don't see Chryst deliver that one on target that very often or something lol... I had Standford -3 that game for more $ than I want to admit lol

Inside 20 yards he's solid... I don't think he's even thrown many deep vs good defenses... and there's a reason for that... I'm not hating on him, but he does have a vertical limitation... I'll take accurate inside 25 yards over who the hell knows but he can throw 90 yards any day of the week

His arm is plenty strong he just has trouble consistently leading WRs and hitting them in stride

Oregon has actually been garbage on defense the past two years. 2016 they were worse than we were last year by far.

Last year they were better, but not good.

I've watched film of his deep throws, they even have touch so the receiver can get under them.

What do you base your opinion off of?
It’s been a while since I’ve watched film on him but I don’t remember him being that consistent down field. I remember a lot more short and intermediate passes

1:03... that's the best deep ball I've ever seen him throw... it's not like a 60 yarder or anything... but that's it :)

Minutes and minutes of YouTube highlight film.

Yes Glitch... a 3-minute highlight film... gave me a negative observation of a quarterback that's been in college for 4 years throwing passes on games I've had some action on...

West coast teams are late night so if I've had an awful day sometimes I throw some action on Wazoo, Washington, USC or Stanford

I haven't seen every game live... but they have every pass he's made in college in ~7 minute youtube clips if you want to find a better deep ball than that one that wasn't vs FCS

It's also written into his scouting reports even back when he was highly touted...

God forbid I say the kid's really good, the best on the roster, but not Peyton Manning :eek:lol:
