When has he not shown heart? And what issues between his ears? I hope you arent eluding to the gt game...

That and pretty much every other time things haven't gone his way.

He has not shown a lot of football intelligence so far... taking sacks, misreading D's even when they simplified things for him...

Taking sacks and misreading d's sounds like a coaching error, especially when you have a redshirt year to develop. And who are they? Butch and co.?

Is there any way this discussion can be moved? I think it's a good one, but it's very misplaced here in the Williams' thread and every time I see his thread get bumped, I'm highly disappointed.

Your wish is granted.

And I don’t remember where I said it, but Wake Forest ran some pretty good RPOs all season. I expect that’s why Helton and Pruitt wanted Osovet on the team. That, and his ties to the Northeast.

Guys - they had to "recruit" Chryst to UT. He had other options. The same OC/QB coach that just put Darnold into the first round. They know what they are doing and they know what a vertical passing game is. They believe he can get it done or they would not have signed him. This is not Butch and company in charge.

Back to butchna's OP - I agree. Good observation and hope they can hold onto him, at least long enough to install some of his scheme.

Ideally Osovet is part of “the Process” type structure where we hire promising football minds as analysts to develop relationships and ties that pay off when our current staff is wooed away by opportunities. Get them involved in schemes, players and recruiting and have VALID in-house or former employee options when hiring replacements.

Heart... need miles and miles of it

Couldn’t disagree more strongly. Kid has plenty of heart and toughness. As has been mentioned by Brent Hubbs recently, coaches are working with him on controlling and channeling his emotions. Have no idea how you’re getting that he needs “miles of heart”.

A screenshot from a game he didn't play.

I read something a few weeks ago saying that Chryst avg passing attempt was a little over 6 yards per attempt. You do have to remember, they had McCaffrey for a couple of years and utilized him coming out of the backfield, so it may be a little skewed.

I don't think there's really enough of either of our guys, as far as the deep ball, to make a great assesment. My personal opinion would be if it's close, give JG the nod. He would be here a minimum of 2 more years (including this year).

Now, if Chryst is head and shoulders above JG, play Chryst and worry about the possible transfer later. All I want to do is win and I think this group of guys are more than capable of turning a few heads this year.
