Joe Osovet recruiting discussion

That's a heck of a throw on the run (with a defender in his face) in-between two defenders....

Noodle arm.

The coach calling for a zone read on 3rd and medium in the middle of the field just drives me insane. Shaw can just go so ultra-conservative sometimes it makes me itch all over.

Lol, it was kind of a good play call.

It seems like they tried to pull that safety off the receiver and create a one on one but obviously the safety didn't bite.

Are you guys on the wrong thread? What do these recent posts have to do with JUCO DT Savion Williams? :whistling:

Lol.... Just so happened that we were talking about Joe Osovet and then somehow the QBs got involved and then yup.... 🙅 🙅🏽 🤷

Jesus Darth I didn't just watch highlights. Thanks though.

Well you must not have watched many full games of his if you’re seeing a guy who consistently throws old deep balls. Last time we had this discussion you literally posted his highlights and said “look he can consistently make those throws” and had a couple people point out that highlights don’t tell the whole story.

Edit: FTR, I think Chryst can be an effective QB for us. He should be able to manage games, do a lot of the small things right, and keep us in games. But IMO anybody expecting him to sling the ball around and put up big numbers is setting themselves up for disappointment.

So you are taking something I said weeks ago to determine what I said a few posts ago?

I said Chryst has the arm to make the throws. That was it. I also said JG and Shrout do as well.

I also said in this previous post a few posts ago that Chryst has touch on his ball.

Yes Glitch... a 3-minute highlight film... gave me a negative observation of a quarterback that's been in college for 4 years throwing passes on games I've had some action on...

West coast teams are late night so if I've had an awful day sometimes I throw some action on Wazoo, Washington, USC or Stanford

I haven't seen every game live... but they have every pass he's made in college in ~7 minute youtube clips if you want to find a better deep ball than that one that wasn't vs FCS

It's also written into his scouting reports even back when he was highly touted...

God forbid I say the kid's really good, the best on the roster, but not Peyton Manning :eek:lol:

Lol all these QBs need to learn something from Peyton a very important something.

All your throws don't gotta look pretty. They just gotta make it there.

Peyton didn't always throw the prettiest ball, but it almost always made it there.

Basically, yeah. You only said that like two weeks ago and what you’re saying now sounds basically the same as then.

That’s fair enough. I don’t disagree with that. I think they all have arms capable of making tough throws. I just think the issue that needs to be considered more heavily is consistency.

I don’t see how anybody who’s more than maybe Chryst’s best 2-3 games comes away thinking he’s a guy who consistently place long balls well and with touch. Anybody who’s taken a long, hard look at what he’s out on tape thus far likely sees him as a game manager who can make some things happen with his feet every now and then and has a good day here and there where he’ll maybe hit a few long balls. And that’s fine. Just being that would make him a better all around QB than we saw on our roster in 2017.

I think everyone is underestimating how good Tyson Helton is as a QB coach. That is the major reason Chryst came to UT in the first place besides the fact he wanted to go somewhere that needed a QB.

Helton will develop all of our QBs and again if consistency is all Chryst needs to fix Helton will fix that.

Very true. Helton fixes qbs. Thats what he does.

Again, I think JG needs another year to develop. He had a lot of things he had to fix.

I'm not trying to debate yer opinions. Just stating my opinion is jg is a better qb right now and will win the job. And he will win games for us. And that's the last I'll say about QBs in the savion Williams thread.

All I meant was that the only way anyone on here has seen him is on tv or YouTube. None of us has seen him live up close in practice so any eval, good or bad, is based on limited information. Chill brah.

We all like to have touch on our ball.

I’m excited to see what Helton does with our QBs. I’m skeptical that a couple of months working with Helton will fix Chryst’s consistency issues when it comes to accuracy, though. The ability to throw a consistently accurate ball is usually one of those skills a guy has or doesn’t.

If he fixes the issues between his ears and between his ribs... he has all the physical talent you'd ever want.

When has he not shown heart? And what issues between his ears? I hope you arent eluding to the gt game...
