John Calipari to KY (merged)

Haha - UM plays in the FedEx Forum. That place is twice as good as Rupp and they have a better practice facility. So - I'm not sure how you figure your statement.

Maybe you are right I have never seen the UM athletic center. But I have seen UK and the total package is unreal.

He just doesnt get it.

Chances are he'll fail again to live up to the ridiculous Kentucky basketball standards and end up back at square 1 again.

I'd say his situation at UK in the current SEC is a little different than taking over the Nets in the eastern conference back in 96.

Am I reading this wrong or do you think UM has better facilities than UK?

If you think that I really don't understand how you figure that.

UK is always going to be one of the TOP 5 college basketball jobs. And with the ESPN contract all of UK's games will be on tv next year and you never see UM on TV. And he hates Pitino so I am sure he will love to go against him year in and year out.
Memphis plays every game on TV,unlike Kentucky.

Kentucky only plays their "important" games on ESPN or on CBS depending the date.

Memphis plays every single game on the CBS College Sports Network.

They play in an NBA arena. It's the best of the best in CBB.
Its unfortunate it even has to be used for the Grizzlies.

FedEx Forum is a top notch basketball facility.

Its not like Memphis doesn't face tough competition, they schedule big name schools in their Nonconference games while playing against a noncompetitive conference.

Unlike Kentucky who tunes their team up against the VMI & Gardener Webb's and then plays in the most overrated basketball conference against mediocre poorly coached teams only capable of beating each other.

The SEC's not overrated...everyone knows it's terrible.

Maybe Cal will change his mind - he's got it good where he is - and I really, really enjoy watching UK basketball struggle and seeing their fans in meltdown mode. Cal will be able to bring immediate talent to UK where as CBG it was going to take a full 4 years to get things rolling.

Will Meeks and PP be gone?

Not everyone.

Your forgetting that outside of 75% of Vol fans that know this there are the other 11 schools have delusional & possibly developmentally challenged basketball fans that think this is a top basketball conference.

I'm pretty sure everyone knew the SEC was really, really bad this year.

Kentucky is a more prestigious job than the New Jersey Nets.

He wont be able to build a team similar to his teams at Memphis because he wont have the FedEx intern jobs available to him and he wont be able to bring in the prep school/JC clowns that he brough to Memphis easily.

I had the pleasure to watch Darnell Dodson be interviewed by a reporter after a game 3 years ago and he can barely form a sentence.

There is no shortage of cake booster internships in Lexington. They have also had their fair share of "prep school/JC clowns" that didn't have any trouble fitting in at UK, including the one Gillispie brought in this year.

Are you more upset that he is leaving Memphis; or that he is joining UK?

Billy Clyde brought in some prep/JC guys that actually cared.

Cal brings in prep/JC guys from the ghettos that become disruptions in the community and possibly dont even try in the classroom.

Taggart,Dozier,Dorsey,Banks,etc

The list goes on

Leaving Memphis.

We only play them once per season.

Its unfortunate that he hasnt learned his lesson from following the belief that he has to prove himself in a major conference or in the NBA in order for him to be respected as a coach.

For what its worth he was building a great program at Memphis and it could have worked out for him in the long run.

I want the Memphis HC job.

Yeah, Kevin Galloway is a huge upgrade over all of those guys. I'd hate to have an NBA talent over him.

Let's just say that I don't believe the standards for admissions for UK athletes are any higher than they are at Memphis.
