John Calipari to KY (merged)

Memphis fans are having a flash mob gathering outside of Cal's house and the AOB, apparently.

Just think about how good the SEC. is going to be very soon. Andy K. will have his team back at 100% Cal will be at UK. and maybe, just maybe Mike Anderson will be at UGA. That's not bad at all.

At least I can relax a little bit of my hatred for Memphis now. Just, with Calimari at UK...I won't be able to handle it. I might honestly have to take a few valium before we play the Wildcats next year.

Kinda makes the prospect of winning the East a little more daunting. let alone 3 out of 4 years..

Even if they were, this decision has little or nothing to do with money.

Spot on..That's what a lot of folks here don't understand, it's not about the money. AZ. was willing to pay John more than UK. but he said no to that job.

Sure it does. Otherwise, John would have already announced he was going to UK.
Not at all. Anyone who thinks Kentucky is that much better a job than Memphis is advised to call Smith, Tubby and Gillispie, Billy. Dealing with ignorant hillbillies isn't much fun. Sadly, Lane Kiffin will learn that soon enough.

I know it won't happen, but why wouldn't Memphis go after BG?

Hat, you seem to know him on some level, would he take any decent job, does he want less of a spotlight on him and does he really want to get back in Texas?

I don't think it's about the money either. I think he's been the showoff in the shallow end of the pool his entire career and he's afraid to move to the deep end and mix it up with the big boys in the SEC.

OK then, he would have already turned down UK then if it weren't about the money on some level.

That's an odd perspective considering that he appears to be doing exactly what you say he is afraid to do.

Billy Clyde is a basketball coach. He wants back in immediately. That said, he'll make sure he finds an employer that is looking for a basketball coach and not a carnival barker. His preference would obviously be to return to Texas, but I don't think he'd pass on a good job elsewhere waiting for something in the Lone Star State to open.

Why would he have taken an NBA job then?
