Joker Phillips resigned @ UF

Pat Forde and Charles Robinson at Yahoo are reporting that someone tied to the Hurricanes turned over photos to the NCAA showing Joker having dinner with a recruit during a dead period. That's a major violation.

Sounds like a lack of institutional control.

Kind of like muschamps temper.

That is also GREAT!!!

I don't understand how it could be recruiting violations by our WR coach because, you know, we haven't recruited any decent wide receivers.

Per the article linked earlier, he was unable to get his own godson to sign.

I got all tingly when I read that. :)

Hopefully for UF, he did it on his own and not with their backing. Just like the 2 hostesses that went rogue on us and attended the South Carolina high school football game to see some recruits.

Joker was a coach, doesn't matter a bit past that. Coaches ALWAYS represent the school in an official capacity, especially the recruiting coordinator..I find it completely ironic that the U actually did the squealing. Here's another link if anybody is interested:

Relax, I was joking. My point was don't throw stones when you live in a glass house. Not directed at you personally but this whole thread in general. Every school cheats in some way and pays players and recruits. The NCAA knows this. If Joker got caught he must have been too careless by getting his picture taken. Insert Bruce Pearl joke here. This could be major but who knows anymore? Yahoo had receipts from the Alabama agent/former player that said Mo Couch and Bray got a few hundred dollars and DJ Fluker got over 30K. Bama got nothing and they had receipts proving it. Fluker even tweeted an admission. Is this major for Florida? Who knows with the NCAA these days? But it's laughable when other schools get on their high horse when one of their rival schools gets caught cheating or some of their players get in trouble etc... We all recruit from the same pool of players and no one is turning down a highly rated recruit because of a morality issue. There are way too many pictures of recruits taking pictures with stacks of money after a recruiting visit and posting them online to deny it. Reminds me of this article which I would say is closer to the truth than not. Joker, you should have used your bag man during the dead period!

He should team up with that coach that applied to NDSU, man that combo of coaching prowess and recruiting artwork would be unstoppable. :D Couldn't say that with a straight face

Saw this on Rivals orginally but I don't have a member account so I looked it up on ESPN. Here is the article on what happened...

Joker Phillips, assistant coach of Florida Gators, has resigned - ESPN

Yahoo! Sports, citing multiple sources, reported Thursday that Phillips resigned after the NCAA received a photo of him with a recruit at a restaurant during a mandatory dead period in recruiting. The website reported that the photo was provided to the NCAA by someone with ties to the Miami Hurricanes athletics program.

Not sure how much this recruiter has impacted some guys we might be looking at. Any insight from anyone?

Due to Jimmy Cheeks newer admission standards, some of the players UF is recruiting, (who meet NCAA requirements for admission) will not be allowed into the Univ of Tennessee, as Ut does not allow for academic exceptions.. Vanderbilt and Stanford do but not Harvard Jimmy!

I wonder what this will open up in terms of NCAA investigations and sanctions in the future? Florida is not in a good place right now..

NOt good for us at all!!!!

Guys, we need to keep Muschamp at Florida. Suppose he gets fired like Zook did and then they bring in another Urban Crier or a Spurrier?

We need to silently root for the bad coaches to stay at schools. Shula & Debose at Alabama, then Saban was hired.
Two bad coaches at UGA, then they hire Richt. Zook, then they hired Urban Crier.

We don't want these school to upgrade their coaching staff.

Is it me or is Muschamp have a very Dooley like end of his era at florida

It's you. Muschamp is being cooked by impatient fans and a university. He's consequently, resorting to cheating, kind of like Bruce. Dooley was an inept coach who was also snotty, but actually tried to do things right. I advise you not to gloat. Karma is a finicky woman and sometimes wears her bloomers backwards.
Which both annoys and confuses American Standard toilet products.
