got to play the hand you were dealt

Look, I would for the Vols to win the rest of their games, and you can watch/cheer just like the rest of us..Good fans watch the games, I agree with that..But just b/c we watch them doesn't mean that we think they're gonna win..With that being said, the Vols probably aren't coming outta of Athens with a W..I would love it though, don't get me wrong.

BTW, I will remove u from my ignore list..My apologies for jumping the gun..Just think about what we're telling you.

You ignored me? That was harsh. I get what you're saying though.

haha well I appreciate the second chance. Really though I don't care who the coach is; I just want the Vols to win, and although history says Dooley can't get it done I'm going to continue to hope he can until he is no longer the coach.

Exactly. None of us really know what CDD is capable of - given the chance. 3 years,,,1st year was a complete dumpster fire. 2nd year was all about recruiting - and playing a ton of freshman. 3rd year - this year - yup we lost one heart breaking game so far. Yes we should have put the hammer down and IMO, it was all on our OC, who so much admitted that he passed to much in the 2nd half. Being a glass 1/2 FULL type of guy, my guess is that the coaches learned a thing or two in that game about their team. Still a lot of ball to play.

Let me ask you this, Dooley finishes 6-6 with a Bowl loss or god forbid after these next 4 probable losses they mail in one we should win and finish 5-7 and no bowl again. IF that happened would you still say he needs more time? Seriously wondering, mainly because of this:

SEC Coaches performances in Year 2 of their coaching tenure.

*Tommy Tuberville (Auburn): 9-2, SEC West champions. Two wins over teams ranked at the time (#19 Ole Miss, #14 Georgia). One win over teams in the final top 25 (#20 Georgia
)

*Nick Saban (LSU): 8-3, SEC West champions. 10-3 including postseason. SEC champions. Four wins over teams ranked at the time (#24 Arkansas, #25 Auburn, #2 Tennessee, #7 Illinois). Two wins over teams ranked in the final poll (#4 Tennessee, #12 Illinois)

*Mark Richt (Georgia): 11-1, SEC East champions. 13-1 including postseason. SEC Champions. Five wins over teams ranked at the time (#22 Alabama, #10 Tennessee, #24 Auburn, #22 Arkansas, #16 Florida State). Three wins over teams ranked in the final poll (#11 Alabama, #14 Auburn, #21 Florida State)

*Ron Zook (Florida). 8-4. Three wins over teams ranked at the time (#6 LSU, #11 Arkansas, #4 Georgia). Two wins over teams in the final top ten (#7 Georgia, national champion LSU). Fired a year later.

*Nick Saban (Alabama). 12-0. SEC West champions. Three wins over teams ranked at the time (#9 Clemson, #3 Georgia, #15 LSU). One win over team in the final top 25 (#13 Georgia).

*Gene Chizik (Auburn). 12-0. SEC West champions. 14-0 including postseason. SEC champions, national champions. Six wins over teams ranked at the time (#12 South Carolina, #12 Arkansas, #6 LSU, #9 Alabama, #18 South Carolina, #2 Oregon). Seven wins over teams ranked in the final poll (#22 South Carolina x2, #12 Arkansas, #8 LSU, #10 Alabama, #15 Mississippi State, #Oregon).

We all agree with that. The mega nega simply believes Gruden will vanquish all foes and lead the Vols back to prominence. We all want a successful football program but there has to be a time when winning games is part of the process. There comes a time when we must admit we can do better and we deserve better.

Meyer won it all in his second year too.

He shouldn't count, he had Cam which was unfair to the world.

The other side of this argument would be the condition of the program when Dooley inherited it.

I do think he should be winning this year with the talent he has, and if he blows it then he should be fired, but as of now he has lost only one game albeit it was a big one and a heart breaker for the team as well as the fans. I guess my only point is there is still a lot of games ahead, just let it play out. Odds are you are right but still let happen first.

I would like Dooley to succeed so bad. He is a good man and a great ambassador to the university. If I could just see some improvement that would go a long way in my eyes. But I just don't see it.

No problem..IMO, you didn't win any points when you said,"if you all think Gruden is coming here, you're crazy"(or something like that)...Not a good statement to make right now.

Ask me nothing simply because you have already mailed in this season as a complete loss. I enjoy the back and forth banter and respect your opinion - but I firmly believe that this team and coaches are better than what the "Gruden Brotherhood" believes. This is a talented and still a young team that needs to find it's groove. People's expectations are beyond what CDD took over. This is the SEC and you simply do not turn a team from nothing into SEC caliber champions in a couple of years. Just will not happen no matter whom is the coach. CDD has had 3 years - with year one being nothing but a fluke year. Year two was a ton of freshman. CDD is into his 3rd year. And yes, the UF loss, IMO, was on the coaching and the players. But --- we played a solid UF team and we looked like the UT of old for 3 quarters. When this team and coaches put a solid four quarters together against a solid team, my guess is that all of this coaching change talk will be chalk dust, easily erased.

Evidence points to the contrary of your position. 4 SEC wins in a little over two years.

The gig is up. We can't lose three games in the east again and not change direction. There is no doubt a hire like JG would change our trajectory as a program immediately.
