Peace is a beautiful thing..It got so tiresome trying to defend Dooley week in and week out, it was quite the chore..Much easier being on the dark side.

If we lose, I won't get as upset as I used to get b/c better days are ahead...If we win, I will celebrate the win and enjoy it...Just don't feel the later is going to happen.

Acceptance is the 1st step towards recovery. I am at peace.

I've reached a point that I never thought I'd reach. I'm very intense when the game is on, untill recently that is. When Bray threw the pick 6 against Akron, I literally laughed my ass off. Cracked a beer and went outside for about 20 minutes.

I honestly didn't care. It all seems like a wash with Dooley at the helm.

At that point in time, my exact words were "what the hell was that, this is freakin' Akron".:banghead2:

Pretty much where I'm at. If we win, great, I'll celebrate accordingly. Losses don't sting anymore as they are expected.

I pretty much did the same. I kept watching but it just didn't upset me like it normally would. That is how I knew that things really have changed. I want to win them all , but the last 5 years have aged me in football years. There have been people here that wanted Dooley gone the day he was hired. I was realistic and gave him the time I felt he deserved. And he is still on that time for the next 5 weeks. I just see the writing on the wall and as of right now , this is as good as it will ever get with Dooley coaching this team. And that is pathedic. I hope he proves himself. However , I have run out of faith that he will.

I wanted to give him a chance out of the gate, even though I had never heard of him ( I literally Googled him when the hire was announced ).

I was in his corner after years one, that team was awful. I started losing faith early last year and pretty much lost all faith with the debacle in Lexington.

This year I thought we had enough talent to exceed what a Dooley led team should be able to accomplish, after watching yet another 2nd half lay down, the last little smidge of hope was gone.

It sucks to feel this way, wish I would have been more of a pessimist ( or realist ) from the jump, that way I wouldn't have been let down for two years.

We've gotten used to them and that is very sad.

I look very forward to the days where we expect to win every game and know we can..IMO, that will happen with Gruden at the helm.

I'm not investing any hope whatsoever in this Gruden madness. I just can't bring myself to do it. Too many let downs for this Vol fan in the last 7 years for me to hope like that. I keep my hopes relatively low nowadays. Like I hope we don't get completely embarrassed on national TV tomorrow.

I would obviously be stoked beyond belief if it were to happen. When the inks dry on the contract, I'll let loose.

I understand what you're saying about letdowns..All Vol fans have lived and breathed them the last few years..I'm just looking for any ray of hope b/c there is none as long as Dooley is here.

Yeah, the servers crash if Gruden is hired..Man, that will be awesome.

btw, is that Maggitt in your avatar? If so, good choice..AJ would have made a good avatar as well..Those two are amongst my fav. players for the Vols.

I think he would absolutely flourish as a college coach.

You gotta think of the staff he would be able to assemble as well.

You're right about the starting salary but why pay a lesser coach ( still a good coach ) in hopes he does it big and reward him later when you can just get what is conceivably one of the best coaches in all of football?

That's half the reason he would be so successful. I mean, we already have the best RB coach in the nation, if he could keep Sal on as LB's coach, we would have a proven elite recruiter, he has the connections and reputation to build the best staff in the nation.

Thanks yall. I sure do hope the letter from Hart is toward fans in support of CDD. Whatever is discussed behind closed doors is fine, and if he keep losing then it is what it is. Just need to support him to give him a chance to do what he needs to. The guy hasn't done anything to deserve what he has been getting around here. I understand losing is unacceptable, but at least he's doing what he is doing with the best interest of UT in mind. People forget that the guy prior to him didn't respect UT AT ALL!!! For goodness sake he put up players of another school up, and Hammy was to much of a coward to stand up for it. smh

Well said.

I didn't say much , but it started with the Kentucky game for me. I kept telling myself it was the injuries and youth. Sure , part of it was , but that was out the window with that Kentucky team. I knew who he was. I am really too young to remember watching his dad coach. At that age Tennessee was the only team on Earth that exisited to me. But that was the only thing I knew about him. I was like... We just hired the coach from LA Tech?

We really should have let Kippy coach that 2010 team and find the right coach after the year. I think the job would have been more attractive to people like Gruden if it wasn't a dumpster fire at the time. He was on Mike and Mike the day after Kiffin left and he said great things about Tennessee. He said he was suprised that Kiffin (and he did mention Monte too) would bolt because Tennessee was really a special place. It a wasn't a stepping stone job and coaches stay there for decades. In other words , you stay until they make you leave. He said it was horrible timing for that football program and they were going to have a difficult time finding a coach because of it. Then they asked him if he was interested. He said "No , I'm not interested right now". What could have been if we just let Kippy do the same thing Dooley did for a year? Might not have been Gruden , but we could have done a lot better than what we got.

And yes , I know he would say the right things on a radio show. I also understand Lane leaving. I just didn't like how he went about it. Ed Calling recruits ect.

I think hoping that UT hires Gruden is more probable than hoping Dooley beats an SEC team not named Vandy or Kentucky, hell, he lost to one of those last year, he might not get by Vandy this year...

I like everything about Dooley except the results on the football field. I also like that he is selling the school to these kids and not himself. He has done most things right here behind the scenes imo. I know the players didn't care for the "call me first" bs. But like I said , everything else is ok imo.
