I think it would be a wait and see from the fans on ticket sales the first year and if the coach doesn't do miraculous things in 13, then sales will most likely be flat for 2 more years. I think that a win in two weeks, another good game with Bama and you will lock in whatever revenue that you are going to get for the next two years. I don't think the AD will take that 4-6 mill gamble by firing an entire staff this year.

All valid points. You left out a couple of other things to consider.

1. The money for the former buyouts was put into an escrow account and is being paid out monthly from that account.

2. You are forgetting the booster money that would come forward for, say Jon Gruden, or another "name" coach, if it were to materalize.

I support a coaching change after the end of this year because I don't see CDD beating anyone of relevance this year. I'm saying 6-6. I think the damage in keeping him around and having those type of seasons is much more harmful than a new coaching staff.

While I don't agree 100% with this, I understand it. If it were only Hart's decision, I would agree more, but Dooley isn't a Hart hire. He's not on the hook for him. He was brought in to do a job, whatever that job may be.

Fairness will get you fired in this business. It may or may not be "the right thing to do", but that's reality. The new coaches came here knowing the situation. It's a risk that may not pay off. I'm not saying that's right. I'm saying that's the way this business works. From everything I've heard, Hart isn't gung-ho on firing Dooley right now. However, his hand could be forced on the issue. He won't go down with the Dooley ship, if it comes to that. Hart isn't dumb.

Dooley can't lose the next three games. He needs at least one win and close losses to even have an outside shot of keeping his job. I've been saying he's fired after the South Carolina game. I think we lose the next three for the record but could see us beating state.

I asked in another thread: but is there mitigating terms in the assistant's contracts that would get us somewhat off the hook if they got other jobs?

This is the most positive thread on this board. Please don't. This is the only place one can come for hope....better days are ahead if positive change is made.

The Grudenites are the happiest Vol fans....we have something to look forward too!

Which is why I said anything below 6-6 and his hand may be forced, there are more factors involved in this decision. Hart is not expecting UT to be able to go out and beat top 10 programs like the fans want when we are unranked and that is simply a fact. Hart wants this football program to fight against the top 10 teams and be competitive.

Might be true, but how pathetic is that? Are we seriously at the level where a win over MSU is the measuring stick? Just a sad state.

6-6? It's a much better record than that. Being competitive is goal for KY and Vandy.

I said competitive against top 10 teams not against KY or Vandy. I think everyone would agree those are 2 teams DD has to beat no matter what this year.

We had yet to prove we deserved that ranking at the time against Florida. It almost seemed to me that was done to pump up ratings after Arkansas fell off the planet this season for CBS.

That can be said for most teams at this point in the top 25. Most teams had not played any real teams at that point.

I said for Vandy and KY. As in that's a goal they would be happy with.

Why are we so ready to accept this? I truly don't understand.

You do realize that anything below 6-6 is gonna include a loss to either Troy, Vandy or UK don't you. Unless we win one of the other games, which mean we would have to drop 2 of these.
