Still don't want. This program needs a splash, and an infusion of excitement in addition to a winning record. Mullin is not it.

Fox News reporting at this hour.....future Head Coach of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, John Gruden, was today seen at the Smoky Mountain Flea Market buying a phony Dooney & Bourke purse as a gift for Linda Bensel-Meyers. There was also mention of a funnel cake and a can of Magic Seal ( as seen on TV ).

The signs all say YES.

No, I dont want a coach that was mediocre ie .500 or was traded to a team, won a SB, then proceeded to go 45-51 over the next 6 seasons with only 2 playoff appearances losing both.

No, I dont want a coach that has never coached college football and the last time he was a coach in cfb the only personal communication devices people had were a thing called "pagers" and that was only doctors.

How many draft picks did Tampa give up just to get Jon as the coach? That was a veteran team that mortgaged the future for a Superbowl and he delivered.

they got a SB win. Great. In fact very great.


Then then went 45-51. That plain sucks. No thanks. We had one coach that won a NC then was lambasted for getting lazy and running the program in the ground. Dont need another one that did the very exact thing. If he was such a "great" coach he would have won more than he lost.


Can you name one of Gruden's recruits? Seems no one else can. Maybe you can step up to the plate and show everyone what a great recruiter he is.

You know the answer......you don't "recruit" in the league. And the GM's and owners have more to say about the draft picks than the coaches do.

But to your point, isn't he as responsible for the Raiders team he coached against in the Super Bowl as Dungey is for the Bucs team that won?

If you think Jon Gruden got lazy, then you don't know a damn thing. That guy's work ethic is something to admire. Did he make some poor personnel decisions? Sure, but the guy was known as a workaholic during his two stints as a HC.

You keep asking if we can name one of his recruits? Please respond to the question I have been asking you in this thread. Can you name me some of Pete Carroll's recruits before he arrived in Los Angeles? Compare Carroll's resume in the NFL to Gruden's.

All the NegaGrudens on the board today are adversely impacting Future Coach Grudens ability to attract and retain the quality of player we need to finally elevate ourselves back to the top of the SEC. Recruits read these threads. Think of the wellbeing of the program.

Larry is in the know and Larry said that we don't have enough money for a good coach. So let's continue to support the guys we got no matter how bad they are.
