I'm not trolling, I'm serious. If I pay top dollar for a salesman, he $%# well better bring me top dollar results or he is leaving out the same door he came in. QUICKLY

If you aren't trolling you must not be too smart. By the same thought process , I guess Bama should have canned Saban in year one when he won 7 games and lost to Louisiana Monroe. You won't get the results you are demanding in year one. Oregon will be better next year than they are this year. Not saying they can't be beat , but look at where they are ranked and the success they have had compared to us in the last several years.

You wouldn't have had to look very hard to find Bama fans that would have done just that.

Cheap shot but nothing I wouldn't expect.

Cheap shot? Have you read your posts in this thread? I know you have been joking for the most part , but you come out and say you aren't joking when you expect us to basically run the table in year one? Riiiiiight. If people didn't question your intelligence before , when should they start?

I'm sorry, this is a no troll-feeding zone.:)

It emboldens them to approach humans which can be dangerous for the trolls, and is annoying to the humans.

Amen to this. This has been a huge part of my point all along with regards to Dooley. Anyone in business that hires someone to get results, sales, commission based careers etc... expects to see those results and when they do not, the WORST course of action is to "stay the course" and continue to do the same things yet expect them to yield different results.

If UT goes "all in" on Gruden then yes I expect immediate, stellar performance. That is what you pay "top dollar" for. If the coffers have been emptied to pay him then top of the line performance is a requirement. If he is going to compete to win the SEC Championship then he better be able to put it on the field from day 1 because the alternative if he fails gets really ugly. See my earlier references to Watson Brown. Gruden will not hang around long if he were to see his "stock" on the decline. He can buy his own way out of a contract.

So, I'll ask my question again - Are you saying the $1.8 mil a year we're paying Dooley makes his tenure to this point acceptable?

Don't misunderstand me because in a way you're right...we are getting the results a $1.8 mil a year coach could provide.

Nice verbiage JoeKyle, but nothing in that tells me Gruden would succeed as an SEC coach. Performance of a professional athlete is an entirely different variable than the performance of a 19-21 year old kid who thinks he can play in the SEC because he was a star in HS.

I think I get it now.
We should pass on Gruden, because there is a greater than 0% chance that he could fail.

Look nobody, not even Coach Dooley believe it or not, is happy with losing to UGA and UF or Akron being able to exploit our weakness in our D secondary. I don't know if he has this program on the rise or not but we will soon have a strong indicator either way. The next three games will show what he has accomplished or not accomplished. W or L with the team down and every naysayer hanging from the rafters the team will either respond as a team with an axe to grind or lay down like some on here seem to favor.

Shouldn't the UGA game showed this? Posters on this site were saying before we played them they were a great team, we played them and should have beat them and that they were a great team (moral victory woo hoo), USCe plays them, and we can beat USCe because they beat UGA and UGA is overated. Sorry, but the UF game was the first time I turned against Dooley and the UGA game...well good moral victory I guess.

I think the UF and UGA games indicated exactly where he is as a coach.

I disagree. I look at the response to losing those games as the indicator. And I expect to see some hard nosed, butt kicking football starting Saturday night.

Obviously nobody is happy with losing, but if you're honestly using the next three games as your barometer then you're setting yourself up for failure. It's not impossible...just improbable and that's not being a negavol that's being realistic. Regardless of who's at the helm, I don't want this team to lay down.

At the end of the day I look at it this way, if Dooley is fired that means a vacancy becomes available for bigger and better things in Knoxville. Don't feel bad for Dooley either, he'll be cashing a $5 mil check courtesy of UT.

Drama Queen.

I defy you to name one poster who has suggested the team should lay down.

Florida, Akron, and Georgia merely put the punctuation on the story Dooley has written over the last two and a half years. The story is predictable and never changes.

Ever played football 'Boro? No? Have any idea what it takes to win at the game? It ain't all X & O's. The journey from 0 to NC is not a nice, neat linear rise to stardom. Now is when a team learns how to win, when they are down. We will see what happens.

All of the factors are stacked against Dooley this weekend:

1. Ranked Opponent
2. SEC Opponent
3. Road Game, outside the state of Tennessee
4. Late, Very Late start time....at an away game
5. Cowbells....lots of drunken cowbells ( see point 4 )
6. Hip injury, making necessary coaching from the booth
7. Effective, run oriented opponent
8. Sound Defensive opponent
9. Opponent who is plus 11 in the turnover column
10. Opposing coach who is experienced with doing more with lesser talent.

We could go on....but this is plenty. It will take a coaching job far superior to anything Dooley has ever exhibited in Orange, and some of that hard nosed football you mentioned, from an emotionally/mentally fragile team to win this game on the road. I hope we do. I hate MSU, and don't feel like there is ever an excuse to lose to that cow college. But I'm not optimistic.

Yes Princess I have played football...probably not at the professional level like yourself however.

I've also coached. I still assist with my sons 8th grade team. Any other measurements you need?
