Shouldn't the UGA game showed this? Posters on this site were saying before we played them they were a great team, we played them and should have beat them and that they were a great team (moral victory woo hoo), USCe plays them, and we can beat USCe because they beat UGA and UGA is overated. Sorry, but the UF game was the first time I turned against Dooley and the UGA game...well good moral victory I guess.

I think the UF and UGA games indicated exactly where he is as a coach.

Surprisingly, this.

Oh? An 8/4 Gruden trumps an 8/4 Dooley? How smart would that be considering we would have to empty the coffers to get him? Especially on an untested SEC coach. Don't hand me the BS about a SB ring. Coach Fulmer has a NC ring and that wasn't good enough.
Bash me if you like but, yes, I think 8-4 Gruden trumps 8-4 Dooley.
Why?
I think at 8-4 Dooley is at his ceiling, 8-4 Gruden is just the starting point. I could be wrong but it is a matter of having hope with me. Gruden offers it and I have pretty much lost it all with Dooley.

I am convinced though, that a couple of "Chucky faces" during a game on national TV would be enough to keep the Grudenites happy regardless of what was happening on the field.

Just like I am confident that if Gruden came here next season and started the season 4-1, people like you and the shouting old man that likes to come to our thread would still bash our new coach. You guys don't seem to care about winning nearly as much as you care about being right.

I thought Dooley's process would show more than it did. I want to see how October plays out, but I bet it won't be pretty. Everybody in our conference can out scheme us easily..

No just responding to asinine attitudes about our current team. I see many posts from those who have no clue what it actually takes to win.

All of the factors are stacked against Dooley this weekend:

1. Ranked Opponent
2. SEC Opponent
3. Road Game, outside the state of Tennessee
4. Late, Very Late start time....at an away game
5. Cowbells....lots of drunken cowbells ( see point 4 )
6. Hip injury, making necessary coaching from the booth
7. Effective, run oriented opponent
8. Sound Defensive opponent
9. Opponent who is plus 11 in the turnover column
10. Opposing coach who is experienced with doing more with lesser talent.

We could go on....but this is plenty. It will take a coaching job far superior to anything Dooley has ever exhibited in Orange, and some of that hard nosed football you mentioned, from an emotionally/mentally fragile team to win this game on the road. I hope we do. I hate MSU, and don't feel like there is ever an excuse to lose to that cow college. But I'm not optimistic.

State hits the edge very well. We suck at setting the end

IF Dooley is fired and Gruden takes the job(I don't think he would), y'all don't think he would jump back to the NFL when they come calling in 2 years? In the short term I think recruits would be jumping to play for him. Just not so sure he would be in it for the long haul.

Gruden could go to the NFL now. They have been calling since he left Tampa.

I don't think he wants to be in the pros. It's sounding like chucky wants to build his own roster. The bad gm in Tampa absolutely screwed the pooch while gruden was coach.

If Gruden is hired, he will be successful in large part due to the talent base Dooley has established.

He will have to be. That is the job and I would expect him to be even more successful when he gets his own players.

Jon didn't take being fired very well. Nobody does , but in that HBO interview , you could tell it hurt him bad. I think he wants to go somewhere he is wanted. Stay as long as he likes and then leave on his own terms. That is easier to do in college than in the NFL. Sometimes coaches get one year. I get the feeling he has nothing to prove in the NFL anymore and the college game is that new challenge he is looking for. And I don't think he would take this job if he thought he couldn't win and be successful. He will have every resource he needs to get the job done. He didn't have that if he took the Miami job. And Jon knows enough people around the program to convince him of that. Dooley knows what this place is all about. He just doesn't have the wins at this point to go along with everything that is right about this place.

Well since you have the magic formula to winning, care to share it with Dooley?

Please share it with Dooley lol.

All I know is it takes a leader of men to win at football in the SEC, and Dooley looks and acts more like a leader of Buttchug at the Pike house than a leader of men. It borders on embarrassing....not the w-l recrd...but the way the w-l record was achieved. It takes practice to be as bad as Dooley!

Coach Dooley doesn't need my advice or yours. He knows what has to be done and we are about to find out if he has done so.

And what record, data, evidence, or information do you have that would lead you to make the statement that "He knows what needs to be done"?

I can run a business for 10 years or more, and if I do not make a profit and only break even or worse, like Dooley, then there is little evidence of anything except I could afford to stay in business.

There is literally 0 data to think he knows what needs to be done, I would like you to quantify that statement if possible.

And 0 data that says J. Gruden can coach college football.

And you will find out what character this team has at same time the rest of us do. Over the next 3 games.

So the past two and a half years were preparation for this month of October?
Were all of the SEC losses part of the process of learning to win?

This must be year 1 then.
