As it seems so many"fans" are calling for Dooleys job after this season. The same people are also convinced that Jon Gruden will be the next coach at UT. The evidence is to the contrary. He has signed a five year contract with espn.It is being said if he returns it will be to the NFL, favoring the Dallas Cowboys job. He has stated that he would return to coaching if the right job presented itself, eluding that the money would have to be BIG. Well we aint that team, not yet anyway. I've aldo seen pete carrolls name mentioned. Why would we want a cheat for a coach. Not that he would come,he's a pac ten coach no ties to Tennessee. Lets give Dooley another season. It might be to his credit or his demise.

Thanks for setting us all straight.

I understand that. All I am saying is what would stop Jimmy Haslam from pursuing Gruden for Cleveland instead of investing money into UT?

What would stop him? Well, they (not just Haslam) have made their interests known to him concerning the UT job, not the Browns. The Browns just hired Pat Shurmur last year and aren't going to make a change two years in.

I don't know if Gruden will be the HC here next year or not but IMO Dooley shouldn't be.

Been reading hogville and some over there say Gruden already has a offer from them and was given 3-4 weeks to get his staff together.

Oh well vol fans we tried. (Sarcasm)

Mangini only got 2 years. And Shurmur was part of the epic brain trust that decided not to go all-in on the RG3 trade. Not great for the resume, especially when the "rookie" they drafted is older than Aaron Rodgers.

Gruden hits the office everyday by about 4am now. He's a notorious workaholic. Seriously, people need to let this point go. There may be reasons that Gruden is not a fit.....workload will not be it.

Hey I'm all for Gruden... not sure how you know he hits the office at 4am though. I was just bringing up the point. I would love the hire.

It's not 100% that Gruden is coming here. Anyone who says otherwise is simply too excited at the prospect to contain it. That being said, the possibility (and a good one at that) is real regardless of what you may think or believe. Could he choose to go somewhere else like the NFL? Of course he could. Again, both camps have made their interests known and are listening. If Gruden wants to coach here then the power brokers at UT will make it happen - end of story.
