I still think 8-4 keeps him in. But now 8-4 must include one of the 2 currently best looking teams in the SEC. It also involves beating one of the two best coaches in the SEC... and whoever #3 is they aren't very close to #2.

8-4 reg season is the barometer that was set forth to him for a shot at 2013. No reason for the administration, boosters, or even Dooley himself to think that is a possibility.

Thats why Sexton has been trying to find him a staff spot for next year starting after the MS State game. That game was his job, because beating Bama at home and USCjr in their stadium are about as likely as the Presidential Race ending in a tie.

LSU just beat South Carolina so I don't know how you can say they aren't very close.

Florida is plenty close too. In fact, they're rated #2 by the BCS.

The Msu game took the wind right out of my sails but...we get a new coach and it doesn't matter who, it could be saint gruden. His first year will be to recruit and rebuild. Won't be a stellar year. 2nd year will be a little better then 1st year but still not up to Tenn. Standards. 3rd year expectations are high but still falls short of VN expectations. We will be right back where we are right now debating and dribbling the same crap we are now. Not saying we dont need a new coach, God knows I wanted it to be DD. Just saying we are a tough fanbase without alot of patience for even the most obvious of details ie. kiffin, injuries , strength of schedule and coaches mutiny.

IF there is a deal in place and IF the decision has already been made, then making an announcement right before our biggest game of the year would be maniacal.

It is one thing to want to re-energize the fan base for a game, but it would cause such mental turmoil for the team that we could very well lose to Alabama by 70.

He's certainly better than Miles. Muchamp statement is a bit premature, Mr. "He needs 3 years." Dude is undefeated and sitting at #2 in the BCS presently.
