Jones biggest mistake was

Dobbs was a true freshman, making his first start, against top 10 Missouri on the road. Yet he was by far UTs best offensive player that game.

He completed 26 passes, would've had several more without all the drops by his WRs....including a huge one by who else, Josh Smith, which would've gone for about 45 yds and a td. He was also UTs leading rusher.
I didn't say that he had a horrible game. I was responding to a post that said he had a record day. It must have been a freshman record or something, because it wasn't all that.

Just adding context. No worries. I thought he played very well all things considered that game. Was disappointed he wasn't able to build on it. Glad to see that he at least rebounded vs Ky despite the fact that they really suck. I'm still buying Dobbs.

I certainly haven't given up on him, or any of the qb's,, including Peterman. There is more to him than the Florida game, or he wouldn't have started.

Having said all of that, I think that Worley will start first game, but I really don't care who is the starter.

Chaney running Butch Jones' system? I'm sorry that's just stupid. The offensive product put on the field is CBJ's system for better or worse. We simply didn't have the pieces to make it work. Our skill position were just hopelessly, hilariously outgunned by our SEC peers. WR wasn't up to par, TE was probably the worst it has been in a long time.

Agree. Chaney ran his offense and I suspect Jones' would have too if he had an NFL drafted QB and a couple of NFL WR's to go along with a solid as hell O-line. Coaches tend to go with what they have, or at least the good ones do. Jones had fewer options this year for doing that sort of thing.

As it has been said numerous times, 6-6 is not an "immediate turnaround" it's the expectation that Jones himself expected to achieve. Acting as if 5-7 was the only outcome of this season from the get go is dishonest, and denigrates what talent did exist on team 117.

Reality is reality. That's just being honest. They are still not where they need to be. Talent is what's needed. It truly begins with this class coming in. I'm looking to see progress, hopefully that will come next season.

I don't care either....just want to play really, really well.

His biggest mistake was hiring 2 defensive coaches on staff that already have a proven history of failure in the SEC.

This is absolutely correct. I am afraid that there will be a lot of unrest next season. I will give him 5 years before I bail on him. I think that he needs it.

you are dead on with this post,CBJ should at least get 5 to 6 years, will it happen ? maybe, but probably not and the mattress will be set on fire once again in less than 2 years,we will hear fire him, before the end of next year,i would guess
