A compound fracture involves the broken bone penetrating the skin creating an open wound. If that were the injury it would probably be apparent to anyone in the arena. Hope for a dislocated elbow at worse. Painful but a much shorter recovery than a fracture. When the Alabama team doctor, not just their trainers, came out immediately, plus they brought a stretcher out just in case, plus their team doctor walked with Jordan off the court and to the dressing room, that told us all we really need to know. Plus the effing blow up cast. Not just a random injury. I was afraid it was a compound fracture from everyone's immediate reaction.
Hard to think beyond the impact emotionally on Jordan and the team. Get well soon everyone. What a long, strange trip this season has been.
Hell, I'd be in tears too. For those of you not keeping up with the Lady Vols this year, Jordan Horston has been an absolute star. Leads the team in scoring, rebounding, and assists or steals (maybe both), and an absolute beast on the court. If you were to compare her impact to the men's team, think of losing Vescovi, Ziegler, and Chandler all at once. Naismith Award finalist and definitely a 1st Team All-SEC player. Top 10 player in the country IMHO.
I'm aware of compound fracture. I knew something was visibly injured the way everyone reacted, which is why I thought compound. Probably the dislocation they were reacting to.A compound fracture involves the broken bone penetrating the skin creating an open wound. After reading these comments, I was wondering about a possible dislocation. Would they put a splint on that type of injury, and do you know possible recovery time for a dislocation?A compound fracture involves the broken bone penetrating the skin creating an open wound. I googled dislocated elbow. Not that anyone knows what sort of injury she sustained. This is what I found -
How do you treat a dislocated elbow?
Simple elbow dislocations are treated by keeping the elbow immobile in a splint or sling for 1 to 3 weeks, followed by early motion exercises. If the elbow is kept immobile for a long time, the ability to move the elbow fully (range of motion) may be affected.
Full disclosure - I have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.
