This injury gives someone on the roster a chance to step up and become the Lady Volunteers version of Jonas Aidoo.
Burrell needs to step her game up a notch.
Good luck to Horston in her rehabilitation efforts.
Yep. I heard it was a fractured elbow and then an MRI was scheduled for yesterday. When I heard they had to pop it back in to socket, I figured it wasnāt good.Being evaluated by ortho specialists today. Someone close to the program told me today expectation is she's done for the rest of the year.
Yeah. She looked spent.Figured to start a thread, separately on Jordan Horstonās injury status. Coach Kellie honestly looked distraught, defeated, and appeared like she couldāve cried in the postgame interview. She said she doesnāt know the extent of whatās going on at this time, but that Jordan was taken to the hospital for X-rays.
That's true but adapting to not havint Jordan is going to be a more challenging transformation than coping with Rae's injury. Jordan is the Swiss army knife plauyer who could move between point guard, shooting guard, hit the boards, defend the perimeter, and she handled full court the best of any our guards. Plus, she was also the player who most often created in the half court offense.
So, the PG role is now squarely on the shoulders of Walker and Miles. Rae can fill some of the gaps but not that one. So, Kaiya Wynn is going to have step up in way that surprises people as the perimeter defender and someone who helps break pressure. We have seen signs she can do the former but no so much the latter.
It will be interesting to see how it goes. I think the LVs will be able to find a new balance and might be able to still make the Sweet 16. But, having SC as their next game is pretty much the worst case scenario. LSU will be the better test of whether or not they can adapt to losing another major piece (this time their biggest one).
Iām feeling the exact same way. Iām completely gutted. Itās going to be hard watching the rest of the season. I feel bad for this team.Feeling gutted by Jordan's injury. When it happened, the camera provided (unfortunately) a clear view of the moment of injury and its aftermath. The only silver lining is that the injury is on her non-dominant arm so at least she is not going to have relearn her shooting motion and all the rest that would come to an injury impacting her dominant hand. Injuries are always terrible, never come at a good time but Jordan had been playing so well it is really hard to see her season ended like this.
But, comeback stories are great too. Looking forward to seeing you back on the court, in all your resplendent glory, Jordan.
