Jordan Howell Gets It.

Yeah, but I doubt he calls Bruce Pearl "Tanning Bed" or other sundry names on a message board because UT has not made it past the Sweet 16. Is that "gettin' it"?

Just curious...
As long as he's not an imbecile babbling about how important it is to be #1 in February, the value of winning a home game in January, or "What about the Houston years?", I don't care if he calls Bruce Pearl the Pope. He understands the main issue and that's good enough.

We get a raw deal Saturday. We're on the road on Thursday, and the Cocks have the week off. At least we don't have it as bad as Arky did. They went to Rupp two days after playing UF, while UK had the week off.

The SEC needs to create two scheduling rules for teams who play on Thursday. 1) They must play at home on Sat/Sun, and 2) the opponent must have had a midweek game.

Hat I look forward to your post game reports and respect you as being a very insightful voice, but honestly what you demand from the Tennessee basketball team seems a little over bearing. We are an over achieving team who do what we can. You seem to think we are UNC or Duke. You dont seemed satisfied with what we have EVER.
I have, and I am sure you have too, watched this program for a hell of a long time. We have been good and awful. Won games and lost them. I just not really sure what you want from Bruce and this team. I want them to win every single game too, but being a realist I know we are limited.

I have never had as much fun watching Tenn Men basketball as much as I have with Bruce running the show. Win or lose it has been entertaining.

I guess what I want to know is what do you want? UCLA with Wooden? Kids who play hard? Us to lose?

What would be enough for you?

Much respect Hat.

If 90% of the fanbase thinks February poll rankings are the end all be all, UT should drop basketball immediately.

I get what your saying, beating Memphis for the #1 ranking was just a mile marker for our program, it was important nonetheless.

The win over KU was a big win, no need to downplay it.

All that matters is the SEC tourney and The Dance, at the same time, winning big games like Memphis/Kansas is a big confidence booster and helps when it comes tourney time.

How much did the win over Memphis in '08 help come March?

Exactly what had UCONN done before Calhoun got there? What had Cincinnati accomplished in the 20 years before Bob Huggins took over? What was Georgetown before JTII showed up in DC? The fact you've always been so so is no excuse for accepting those results in the future.

I'm confident Florida is far more concerned about their two national titles than they are their regular season record against Bruce Pearl.

Eddie Munster better be worried about getting back to the tourney, seeing as how he hasn't been there in some time.

I'll take two National Championships and two NIT trips over four nondescript NCAA appearances every time.

I think the majority of fans understand that the tournament is what counts, but see the wins over #1 and a #1 rankins as stepping stones in the right direction. They hope, so at least.

It can only help, we played a team that was better than us, flat out, like at the talent they had...were one shot from winning that game and having Memphis again. I know that almost doesn't count but like someone else said were an overachieving program, no doubt about it.

I get the point but if i was Florida i'd put the two national championships behind me and focus on just making the dance again.

i will agree there. I still think bruce is a better coach than Billy. Bruce hasnt been at Tennessee as long as billy. Not that im saying he will win a single title but he will sneak us in a final four Im certain.

Then you must disregard the plethora of posters who act as if reaching the Sweet 16 makes Pearl a candidate for immediate induction in Springfield and Kansas City.

Who wouldn't?

Your giving Donovan too much credit, he hit the jackpot with that group of kids, won't happen again, he can't even make the tourney in the SEC, that is pretty pathetic considering were only good for about 5 teams to make it year in and year out.

Tennessee wasn't one shot from anything in '08. Louisville blasted them out of the tournament.

Contradict much?
How so? Lose one of the games this week, then couple that with the two beatings they are going to suffer the next and you've got a recipe for a finish that gets Tennessee a seed in the 7-9 range. That makes a March run next to impossible. Is that simple enough or do I need to dumb it down some more for you?

Pearl is unorthodox in his methods, his X's and O's frustrate me to no end. Overall though he has done pretty good, of course he could have done better but is there not a single coach that you can't put that label on?

I won't be happy with not winning the SEC tourney and not progressing further into The Dance. I am, however, willing to give him a little more time to accomplish these things.
