Having seen how Ramar's time at UT ended, do you really have to ask?

so he was arrested for armed robbery the first day of prep school? or does UConn drug test their recruits. he had to have done something bad, that UConn found out about. Their standards are pathetically low. Case in point:

Khalid El-Amin. The guy scored like a 600 on his SAT and had already fathered about 8 kids

Good to see you have absolutely no grasp of the facts in that situation.

So you're saying that Floyd wasn't in charge of the program? It's called "institutional control". I've read numerous accounts that Floyd funneled the money through Rodney Guillory to Mayo. Am I wrong here?

i someone actually trying to claim that floyd wasn't somehow at fault?

He just told the panel on The Locker Room that it's all about March. Thank God. No talk about #1 rankings, regular season wins, etc.

Jordan Howell should totally tell that to the fan who posted this:

"1. That's what it sounds like when 20,000 people collectively exhale. If Tyus' shot goes down, so does Tennessee's season."

sounds like a milquetoast statement to me. In Hat's world, it either matters or it doesn't.
I'm betting Hat was saying a loss to a team like Florida could very well result in a downward spiral for the team. We needed to stop the bleeding, and a loss to Florida wouldn't have done that.

What he did say in pt. 1 of his postgame report is, had Tyus' shot gone in, Tennessee's season would be over. That doesn't sound like someone who believes "it's all about March."

With the games we have upcoming, a loss to Florida would not have put this team in a very good situation.

Agreed.

But if we shouldn't make too big a deal about beating Charlotte, Kansas and Ole Miss mid-season, we shouldn't make too big a deal about losing 3 straight in late January.

We could stumble after those big wins, and we can rebound after some losses. It wouldn't be the first time a Tennessee team under Pearl has done that, in fact.

But a loss to a mediocre SEC team would not look very good come March. Especially considering how ugly the SEC is.

That's pretty poor logic.

Here's the point for those of you who can only see black and white.

Regular season wins and losses are important as a collective whole and some of those games do rise in the level of importance in regards to getting in the tournament and seeding.

However.......

Too many Tennessee fans completely miss the forest (doing well in March) for the trees (beating a #1 ranked team in January or February). Yeah, it's nice, the Kansas win helped the resume a whole lot, but in the end it's not a win worth making tee-shirts, commorative pictures, and whatever else the fan base did as a result.

If this team either a) doesn't make the NCAA or b) goes in and flames out in the first round a la last year, then that win is absolutely pointless in the grand scheme of things.

Personally, as much as I enjoyed that Memphis win in 08, looking back I would have much rather lost that game and played for a national title in the end.

100% wrong. When the Committe on Infractions issues their findings, see if they place a show cause order on Tim Floyd.

Fair point, but 3 straight to mediocre or worse teams is awfully deflating. Reminiscent of our post Memphis swoon a couple years ago, which killed us.

March matters, but confidence is just toug to recoup.

1) huh? You start out with that and then spend the rest of the post agreeing with me? Was today opposite day and you just kept it to yourself? except that you conclude with...

2) there's nothing remotely controversial or interesting about this point. I challenge you to find a fan of any sport, game, competition, at any level, on God's green earth, who wouldn't agree with this. It's like saying, "You know, winning the lottery for $100,000 was nice, but I'd prefer to win the lottery for $500,000 in a few weeks AND still have the chance to win an extra million."

Honestly, what's the purpose of this thread ? Even a child that follows college BB, knows March is all that matters. Total waste of space ... Ignore

say what you want about Pearl - But going 8 out of 9 against Florida. Especially going 3 out of 4 during there back to back national champions. And it was just the game to get us back on track. GO VOLS :dance2:

:whistling:

When I went to bed last night, the excitement of the Florida game was done for me. Too many people once again have made too big of a deal about a win against a mediocre team other than it salvages our season to some extent. But if you don't think dropping three in a row, 2 of those at home, isn't a big deal, then, well............

As for #2...there are times I wonder about our fan base.

For lack of a better explanation, I'll use one of my favorite quotes. "I am but a humble man, but I have many important friends."

I got a good laugh out of the "humble" part. I never, ever, thought hatvol would claim that. Even if quoting someone else. Just priceless.
