Might be one of the worst officiated games I’ve seen. All that said, you should still beat Austin Peay by 30 even on a night where the officials are against you.

Like I said earlier man, AP was playing not to get blown out-not to win the game. They basically took away the over the top routes and let us dink and dunk down the field 10 yards at time. They also took the SunBelt Billy route from last year and went for it on pretty much every 4th down.

Combine that with extremely poor officiating and a Vol performance that was sluggish at best and it all adds up .

I'm not going let my BVS angst take over for the year just yet.

Yup, it was a stinker by the Vols all things considered-but I would certainly prefer a stinker vs AP where we still get the win vs laying an egg next week against Florida who is capable of inflicting much more damage.

It’s Austin Peay. Bad calls shouldn’t have even been an issue. This game should have been over by halftime. We should have been up by 3-4 TDs. At that point the refs are irrelevant.

You don't mind if others discuss the bad officiating as we also acknowledge we were very sloppy, do you?

There were a couple bad calls…but what is targeting if a guy launching off his feet to head head of a player isn’t targeting? The rule was created for a reason and that play fit every stipulation. That was disappointing and set a precedent that AP could get away with whatever they wanted

Yeah .... I'm glad Heupel took the high road. You don't even mention the officiating after a game with Austin Peay. That would look so weak.

I'm confused how two players can have a post play scrum for 10-15 seconds, leading to players and coaches coming onto the field, and neither side gets a flag.

THAT is a pure case of Richt losing control.

I'm not trying to say the zebras caused our issues tonight. But that was one of, if not the most piss poor officiating job I've ever seen. That crew needs to not have jobs.

The receiver is lined up way offsides right in front of the sideline ref and our DB is pointing it out. It never got called

Stressed? Not in the slightest. Pissed? Yes. I expected much more from this team. Dude it’s Austin Peay. The game should have been over at halftime. Nico should have played the entire second half. Our secondary looked bad again for the most part. Yes we won and that’s great. But we looked terrible in the win.Florida was on their minds. No doubt about it. You could see it.

Ah the officiating excuse. Happens every single TN loss and every time we play bad.

Or when they were bad. 2 apsu players inserted penises into our guys butt while on ground. Nothing happened even when our guy jumped up to fight back then a melee occurred. Not one flag. Just take control of a game.

Maybe the rules need to be changed, but their QB was rewarded multiple times for grossly under throwing the ball. That's chicken S@@@.

Officiating was lousy but I could see how that was not ruled targeting. Looked to me like he hit the shoulder pads, not the "head or neck area". My wife tells me I've been wrong before, but I think that was when I thought I was wrong but wasn't.

I agree, but them refs looked like they were trying intentionally to keep it close. They are either the worst crew ever or they were on the take. A few of them calls were just absurd, them acc refs need and deserved to be scrutinized after this game. One of the worst games I have ever seen by a crew in my entire life. For sure top 5 and I have seen a lot of games in my 58 years. GBO

I thought the lineman always had to be covered on his outside (that you couldn't have all your wideouts or TE on one side of the field).

They deserve at least a game suspension, that was unacceptable no matter who is playing. But that almost every controversial call was against us is odd at the very least. I hope these refs get a earful from the ACC, to not acknowledge their horrible performance would be a chicken poop bs!!!!
