Josh Heupel the new Spurrier?

Also, using this logic, Billy Napier is better than all of them; Spurrier, Huepel, Saban, etc.

Napier is 44-14 overall, or a .759 winning %.

Of course I don’t believe that, but you get the point. Flawed logic.

I think Napier is a perfect fit for UF just give him 5 years. Stay the course, I saw progress in their Bowl game.

Heupel has to bring home some hardware before comparing to Spurrier.

Lot of excitement here and this was a fun season, but this program still has a way to go. Only time will tell if this season was an aberration or a precursor of what's to come.

I think he is to the SEC now what Spurrier was in the 90’s with his fun and gun. Nobody can figure out how to stop his offense and it carried over from last season to this season which proves that. Dude is a offensive genius and we have beat Florida and LSU actually dominated them without our best WR in Tillman. Just imagine when Nico gets here and even more talent comes in with the recruiting classes. It’s simply amazing what he has done in 1 and half seasons turning things around. I just hope Danny White pays him well so he will stick around he’s def earning his money now and then some. I will admit I was skeptical of the Heup hire and wanted a bigger name like James Franklin boy am I glad I was wrong.
Nobody can figure out how to stop his offense? Did you watch the Georgia game?

Lord, I hope he does not become the next Spurrier as far as a person goes. He may be even a better coach than Spurrier but that will be difficult. Only time will tell.

Our defense lost that game to South Carolina, not our offense. 38 points ought to be enough to beat anybody.
But it wasn't, we struggled on offense. As good as people make our offense out to be we should have put up over 70 on south Carolina. We have the talent to out score them and we couldn't. Idk if the team was looking ahead or what that day but our offense didn't have the fire it did against bama.

Our talent was actually pretty similar. On the team talent composite they were 21st this year and I think we were 19th.

Have you guys forgotten how many warts Josh Dobbs covered up on Butch? I'm all in on Heup, but we have a very special young man at QB. We are well ahead of the clock on the rebuild due to HH.

Edit... On second thought spurrier had some really special talent as well at QB, and HH is definitely a changed player after the transfer.
spurrier is a quitter. Less than a man to say the least.

Heupel is Heupel. He'll surpass Spuerrie's impact and he's a good guy.

I think this offense will be fine but I think people are underrating how much of it was Hooker. I think it takes a specific type of QB to run this system much like Spurrier's system.

Hyp has raised the expectations bar to a high level this season. Fans can turn on you fast but I think he can handle it.

It would be funny to see Heupel start talking **** like Spurrier. Out of character, but funny.
I said a while back that Heupel is Spurrier without the wise cracks.
As long as we don't get any "smoke weed, talk s*** like Lane Kiffin" going on.

Maybe just the explosive offense. As much as I hated Spurrier, CJH has got to win some championships before being compared to him.

Spurrier won 6 SEC titles and a national title at Florida so I really doubt Heupel even comes close to matching that so no Heupel is not the next Spurrier in any shape or form.

Interesting comparison...since 1992, only two SEC head coaches have won their first SEC title after more than 3 full years on the job - Phil Fulmer (5 yrs) and Tommy Tubberville (6 yrs). Every other coach successful enough to win an SECC was able to do so within 3 full years on the job.

So I guess next season is Heupel's year? If he doesn't win the SEC next year, do you begin to worry?

And how many of them took over a team that was 3-7 the year before they became head coach, a roster that was absolutely gutted by the transfer portal, and, in their second year, finished the regular season ranked in the top ten? No, I'm not worried about Heupel.

The only transformation in Tennessee football history that was remotely comparable in my 55-year tenure as a fan was what Dickey achieved in the mid -60s. He won a couple of SEC championships before making the mistake of his coaching career by returning to Florida.

To an extent I agree but he's proven it works with other QBs but they have to be smart and be willing to put the team on their back.

Dickey left for Florida? Reminds me.of a movie. The Dirty Rotten Scoundrel....
One of my favorite movie scenes..."Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma!"
