Josh Smith

Don't agree. He will be fine, just like Dobbs and the rest of the young players. Patience. Hang in there!

But as of right now he should.not be in this game. Dobbs is in only because Worley and Petterman are hurt. He may turn into something good but he is hurting us on the field this season.

Butch Jones gets it. his ass handed to him on the road. This team is the bottom of the barrel in the SEC. I hope this overrated offensive line gets all their overrated money and gets the hell out of here.

Smith is absolutely scared to death out there. He finally caught a pass and rather than just turn and fairly easily get 3 more yards for a first down, he took 2 steps and dove. No one even laid a hand on him. Why in the world is he on the field?

He probably plays because he can remember the routes. He had great hands in h.s. Great kid, but not SEC talent-- he should go play with Charlie High.

Three certainties in life: death, taxes, and Josh Smith drops a third down ball which would give Tennessee a key first down.

Im not cool with a beatdown, but I'm at a loss as to how getting on here and calling Josh garbage, saying he sucks, and he should transfer helps anything. Care to help me with that one?

I don't think he needs to transfer, he's a freshman, but I'm not sure why he gets the playing time when he makes critical drop after critical drop. It's ok to criticize players that aren't getting the job done and he is definitely not getting the job done.

I think that receivers like Paul Harris and Drae Bowles should get more looks over Josh Smith until Smith can get the hands fixed.

Am amazed at all the internet tough guys who think they need to pile on a true freshman playing at the #9 team in the nation. OMG!!! We should expect a freshman to play like a senior!!! Pathetic.

Are you really amazed that people are upset over a kid who seems to do 0 with the amount of targets he gets. We have players that could give us more reliable options.

Expect that either the freshman, in the 9th game of the season, should catch perfectly thrown passes to him when he's wide open, or not be on the damn field. He hurt his football team tonight with yet another dropped ball.... a dropped ball that, had he caught it, appeared to have had an excellent chance of going for a TD.... a TD that his team desperately needed. That's all.

We don't expect Smith to play like a senior. We expect him to play like a college football player aka catching a pass that hits you right in the chest.
Seniors aren't the only ones that catch a wide open pass right in your hands.

Actually you shouldn't let the ball hit you in the chest, but don't let that get in the way of your armchair story.

They throw him the ball because he is WIDE OPEN! Do you expect Dobb's not to?

The better question is why does he keep getting playing time?

He is open because the Defense does not have to cover him. He will take care of that himself. LOL

Throw him the ball 100s of time in practice. Every time he drops 1 make him do 20 yard shuttles or 20 push ups. Maybe he will catch them after that.

I don't intend to be down on the guy, but I truly don't see any reason why he is on the field rather than Paul Harris. Confused.

Never heard of anything this groundbreaking before. Please send Butch your resume
