If I’m starving, I’ll eat Ramen. But I’m not gonna be excited about eating Ramen. That’s my point.
Not a single person on this forum is qualified to intelligently determine if this kid can play. The two generally accepted metrics we use are offers and rankings. Rankings are sketchy for many reasons in normal years - but especially this year.
I’m not so much concerned with his lack of a ranking. What is alarming is his playing a premium position at a top flight JUCO with high visibility - and the lack of offers. Every team needs corners. UGA is loaded on defense and they still offered and accepted kids from the portal.
Can Martinez get something out of him? Sure it’s possible. Could Martinez get something more out of a ‘22 kid that this commitment takes a number from? Very likely.
Being skeptical about this doesn’t make someone a “negavol.” When guys like Means and Brandon Davis etc were signed everyone pointed to DeAndre Baker and how we had no right to question Pruitt. Well, there is a very strong likelihood that this player contributes as much as those two.
You mean like they did against Derek Stingley- future 1st rnd draft pick? Some good depth, I guess. His film is not that impressive to me. He is big and physical, but seems slow. The next Waddle or Smith will blow by him.
Yeah, no kidding. What I'm saying is, the way college football is, the next Smith could be at Georgia, Florida, Bama, LSU... hell, even UK or Mizzou right now and we don't know it and this guy would get toasted when matched up. Again, just my opinion based on watching his film - slow.Waddle and Smith played FOR Bama. One won the Heisman and the other was on pace playing AGAINST your other examples.

No one can guard guy like that one on one. Thats why you play different coverages.
This kid reminds me a lot of Lonnie Johnson out of Gary, Indiana.
- 2 star kid that played with Kentucky and was drafted by the Texans 2nd rd.
I watched it and had the opposite take...Murica.Yeah, no kidding. My stance actually does make sense if you’re capable of critical thinking.
Also, I never said he sucked - just with clearly outlined reasoning questioned this commitment.
Read slower so maybe you can keep up.
Explain how we are “recruiting as worse as we ever have please…..” we have 4 commits and all of those commits have high upside, on top of that we haven’t even started the Season and there haven’t been any Official visits or camps allowed.Very measured argument.
We are recruiting as poorly as we ever have. That doesn't mean it's all Heupel and his new staff's fault - some of it certainly is. People think to support the program you have to write a blank check of excitement. I don't think that's the case.
Have to be able to get off the press to show that kind of speed and if we do face that kind of speed this dude would be perfect for a press zone look.Yeah, no kidding. You're exactly right with the camps, wait until camps open up. Plus, kids are being told UT is going to be on a 2-3 yr bowl ban. I'm impressed with what this coaching staff is doing with the black clouds hanging over the programs head. Could it be better? Absolutely.Explain how we are “recruiting as worse as we ever have please…..” we have 4 commits and all of those commits have high upside, on top of that we haven’t even started the Season and there haven’t been any Official visits or camps allowed.
Once Official visits and camps are allowed our recruiting is going to pick up. It will then continue to pick up when Huepel and our boys show what our offense and defense can do.
If anything this staff has been extremely impressive by what they have done with the transfer portal.
I understand the star ratings being off right now due to the circumstances however offer lists are still relevant and his offer list is not reassuringYou're exactly right with the camps, wait until camps open up. The star ratings are not accurate. Some of these kids are going to fall/climb in the rankings. People act like kids don't get better as time goes on.
Lol what? Getting ready to? You really think those schools are scared to go after someone committed to our dumpster fire of a program? If they really wanted him they would offer him regardless of him being committed and they would pursue. He was getting ready to have offers from Auburn, Oregon and other schools.
Look, I hope the kid does well, but there's a credible argument to be made that we would have been better off not filling this scholarship and used it as a "we voluntarily took away a scholarship in response to the violations by the prior staff" angle.
Those schools just started communicating with him, but he felt good with UT and committed. Who's to say those schools don't offer?Lol what? Getting ready to?
