'19 JUCO DT Jahkeem Green (USCjr Commit)

Is it just me? Looking at our current signees and targets our Dline is gonna be a LOT bigger next year. They are definitely going for full on 3-4. Oline also

Too funny. SC's facilities include a brand spanking new indoor practice facility and a FB operations center opening in the Fall. They don't lack for anything. And Muschamp doing just fine recruiting players, even from Tenn., kids seem to want to play for a team that actually wins a conference game, who knew.

Ranking today had Tennessee at 4th nationally, and USCe at 21st. I doubt you are still around but...

Anyone know why this guy was JUCO? Grades, transfer, or no HS offers?
He’s an absolute beast. JC Shurburt talked to and agrees with a friend in the recruiting industry that said Green is a 5 star player. Would be another huge steal from SC and would be a critical hit to their defensive line next year

So why wasn't he recruited at all in high school?

Probably grades. Sounds like he turned around and got his head on straight. Did the things to improve on the field too, not letting this once in a lifetime opportunity pass him by. Imo of course.

Lance Thompson was his primary recruiter. Maybe him leaving is why he is looking around? There had been rumblings at one time about Thompson joining Pruitt's staff if a position opened up.

Crazy to see a guy who has been to committed for almost 10 months come visit UT on one of the final possible weekends.

Not trying to be a smartass but what does it matter?
Someone asked and I'm also curious. If someone is saying this guy should be a 5 star you'd think some coaches would have at least kicked the tires on him in high school even with bad grades. Just makes me a little skeptical of the hype I guess. He could be good though. Just curious.

Savion Williams is a four star now but wasn’t ranked coming out of high school.

Yeah. I'm not saying anything bad about it. Just asking if anyone knew. There were reports about savion being a beast in high school but had to go to junior college for grades. Just wondering if this is the same situation.

This is about all I could find on him about his recruitment in high school. Had no offers and doesn't appear any interest. Found nothing about grades.

SHS head coach Mark Barnes ended up being a bit of a soothsayer in regards to Green.
"He has a tremendous amount of upside," Barnes said at the time of Green signing with Highland. "He's not the player now that he's going to be."

Former Gamecock, future Gamecock

SC247 finally found out about his visit and they're not happy. Sounds like grades are a concern which is likely why he didn't sign early, Muschamp probably trying to slide that by everyone and sneak him in later but Pruitt sniffed it out haha. "They'll get him in just like Bryce Thompson!" "I hate Pruitt and Fulmer!"

History says juco guys rarely end up being good players at power 5 schools.

Imo I don't want any juco guys that weren't highly ranked out of hs. Too many "ways"
Players got good at juco

your right...but coaches use them to jump-start their teams...and build their teams so that they can recruit to their needs with HS players.
