'21 JUCO RB Tiyon Evans

Hard to call it a good one bc he had everything right there in front of him after yr 1 if he just handled business. Sacrifice 1 yr (not even a full yr) for your family then never look back. He couldn’t even do that.
Maybe he felt like the injury derailed his NFL chances and knew he’d have to play in college another year and said if I have to do that I’m doing it closer to my baby and just quit (bad decision but I can see logic).
I’d assume he ends up somewhere like SC St or something.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but with him entering now vs in a few weeks doesn't that mean that we will not be able to replace his spot with the portal?

A big part of him leaving is he is struggling being away from his kid.
Sounds like Nikita Stover, Alabama WR who transferred to a JUCO and almost quit football because he was homesick missing his kid. Coach talked him into finishing the season, he then went back to Bama and won a natty

I don't understand the timing of entering the transfer portal effecting the roster spots for the next year, but it seems like a bad rule. If someone transfers mid year that's obviously the players leaving and not the coaches opening up room on the roster.

If that's the case then why are we so thin. I'm not sure our backs are on Kentucky's level or South Carolina for that matter. On the smallish side and the bigger backs can't get on the field.

And they still can’t beat us. Only scored 90 on them combined. If you think it’s gonna be a problem finding a transfer RB after the season then I dont know what to say to you. We have been thin the entire yr too. Tiyon never played. Can’t wait to revisit your post in the coming months.

If we get quality depth I will be the first to be happy. I'm just looking through an honest lense. We've been razor thin and pass protection has been an issue in the backfield.

From a reliable poster on VQ:

Basically he has all the talent in the world but is lazy as bleep. Doesn’t want to go to class, doesn’t like to practice. He and Jerry Mack are totally different when it comes to what’s expected of a player

Buh-bye and good luck. Don’t need a head case.

If he wasn't a Vol, everyone would be commending him for choosing his kid over football. But because he is a Vol it's a bad choice.

I'll never call choosing your child over football a bad call. Being a good father/mother should trump all and I have zero respect for someone that disagrees. If that is his motivation, good on him and I wish him the best.

It’ll all work out. We don’t even know who these guys are recruiting out of the portal or who has reached out yet. Well luckily the only team we have left to play hasn’t gotten pressure the entire yr and is as slow a team as there is in a major conference.

I want the best for him though. But this wasn’t the best choice.you have to sacrifice in life to get yourself in good spots. I just explained why and now he’s ineligble on top of it. He needed to handle business for 9-10 months lol. That’s all.

Gonna be crazy getting used to how much turnover these rosters will have every year going forward. Gonna be so hard to get attached to the players. Needs to make Senior Days even more special!!!

I don't know this young man's situation, but leaving UT may be the sacrifice he's making as a father. We don't know what kind of pressure he's being put under daily by the mother of his child. We don't know the financial struggles or living situation that she and the child have. Those things can really mess with you mentally if the situation is bad. Like I said, I don't know if that is the case, but it's definitely a strong possibility. Regardless, once we become parents, our children should be our immediate first priority. Just my personal opinion.

Lot of overreactions in this thread. Tennessee should have no problem attracting other elite RBs; besides, this offense works well even without Evans at this point. Definitely seems related to academics at this point. Best of luck to him moving forward.

I could be wrong but if it has to do with academics, and he cannot get academically eligible to play for another team, then we cannot replace him.

While you might be correct, getting elite RBs is not as easy as you think.
