Julius Randle Picks Kentucky...

Has coach Cal ever been to a final 4 that wasn't eventually vacated? I think I'll just sit back and see how all this shakes out ...

From the article: "In light of Randle’s commitment, Kentucky is currently two-over the scholarship limit for the 2013-14 season.Nerlens Noel’s impending NBA draft declaration will pare that surplus down to one, and if Wiltjer follows through and seeks his release, the Cats would then break even.".."Kentucky could decline to renew the scholarship of former walk-on Jarrod Polson (Polson is on track to graduate in the spring anyway) or kindly (not so kindly) nudge fifth-year senior Jon Hood out the door. Wiltjer’s departure would eliminate those troublesome extra steps."

So the way I see it: Wiltjer is out like a fat girl in dodge ball. Polson is a Kentucky kid and would probably gladly give up his scholarship to stay with the team as a walk-on, so we could likely pickup one more recruit.

If I understand we have like 4 white guys not named polson/wiltjer/hood on our bench who have known they are on one year schollies. Hood/polson can graduate. Wiltjer to zags possibly. Noel out, mays out. It's not as bad as everyone is acting

Everyone is confusing UK academic standards with Louisville, where it takes players 7 years to finish a 4 year degree, once you add in all the remedial classes.

The actual answer is yes, two. :)

John Calipari Championships and Final Four Teams:
2012 National Champions ( Kentucky, Tick-Tock)
2011 Final Four (Kentucky, Tick-Tock)
2008 Final Four (Memphis, Vacated due to NCAA Violations)
1996 Final Four (UMass, Vacated due to NCAA Violations)

I'm just having a little fun but I would think the history here would make a cat fan a bit nervous.

Such a clever post. Noone has ever, ever pulled the "Cal is a cheater" argument so blithely. :birgits_giggle:

UK gets 13 scholarship players iirc.

D. Johnson, Harrison twins, james young, marcus lee, julius randle, d. willis, wiltjer. Possibly Stein, Poythress, and Harrow added back. Still only 11 right?

Predicting wiltjer, stein, poythress and harrow are returning? Noel & Goodwin to the league?

We could hear some legitimate transfer talk concerning Wiltjer or Harrow this week based on some reasonable speculation from this link.

Poythress and WCS probably are back.

Agree with Noel and Goodwin. They should get money now.

I said possibly. I'm not gonna pretend and say I know what's gonna happen. Goodwin and Noel are the only ones I think should go based on their skills. The rest could go, but don't have to.

Poythress and WCS are top 15-20 in the recent mock draft updates I've seen, if that's truly where they're gonna go then they should go. No way i see either one improving their stock enough to offset next years very strong draft class to keep those grades.

It all depends on grade...if they're told they are top 20 they should go. They're gonna lose minutes by returning so it'd be hard to really show much improvement...add in next years draft is gonna be A LOT stronger and I think they'd be wise to go.

As we all know, you can lose minutes on a Cal team, you can sacrifice stats, and still get drafted well. The last thing these guys have to worry about is bench time. They're not gonna rot. If they demonstrate improved ability, they will get drafted.

Elite 8, final four, then a title. Wth else you want him to do? Throw a BBQ And take pics? No he isn't the best XO Coach by far but Good lord Man listen to what you're saying.

You act like national titles grow on trees, While you guys have never even sniffed a final 4.

Cal is a great recruiter. And, even after missing the NCAA tournament with two McD's AAs (and losing in the first round of the NIT to Robert Morris), Cal is still a great recruiter.

You want to sell me on the fact that he is a good coach, though? Show me when he pulls a wrecked team through adversity to overachieve. Might as well claim that Theo Epstein was a good coach...

This. I do not see one non-freshman in the rotation for UK next season; thus, I'll go ahead and predict the Florida wins the SEC outright, and UK misses the Final Four.

Like Terrence Jones did?

Returned to UK, minutes went down, points went down, rebounds went down, and guess what...draft stock went down too.

Apparently Kentucky native Dominique Hawkins is committing to Kentucky, that makes 8 freshman...guess Rex was right when he said UK wasn't done with the 13 class.

All of the above declined because he underperformed. He played soft at times. I love TJ but he only had himself to blame.

Yeah, his AAU team out of Louisville tweeted that he would "sign" tomorrow. That isn't happening, but apparently it was leaked that he will receive the offer.
