Juneteenth

Honestly, I see it as progression of our nation to move forward in a positive direction. If we don’t progress forward then what are we doing?? I don’t see it politically. I see it as a move forward. Not a sheep, just a person who desires equality. It’s just a step forward.
How does Juneteenth equal equality? It doesn't. Things didn't suddenly get better when MLK Day was made a holiday. Problems still exist, and will continue to exist.

^can we find more posters like this please.
Everything does not and should not come down to politics.

Of course the fact you're in the Politics forum escapes you.

Bless your heart.

It’s a step in the right direction. I don’t understand how Juneteenth being a holiday is even a problem. Problems still exist but celebrating holidays like this is how we progress forward & work to eliminate racism in my opinion. Racism doesn’t suddenly disappear which is why I said this is how we progress. One day we won’t be arguing about celebrating a holiday about the end of racism

I have zero problem with Juneteenth being a national holiday. It's basically another Independence Day, only for black Americans. I think it fitting for it to be a national holiday. I do believe that it being made a holiday now is about political pandering, which is a shame, but it is worthy of recognition.

It’s kinda odd they find this worthy but not D Day.

It’s been over 150 years! It’s in the f***ing constitution! It hasn’t been buried or kept out of the spotlight and celebrating it should be done by whoever wants to do it. This is simply political pandering by morons on the left.

Do you support anything positive for AAs? Serious question at this point.

Not really. D-Day was a pivotal moment of WWII, but Juneteenth is about the end of slavery. An entire race of people were held in bondage simply for being black. The day that ended is hugely significant.

And it’s been in the constitution for over 150 years. An entire race of people that were sold by their own people for centuries were granted freedom. The problem isn’t about celebrating that freedom it’s about blaming whitey with your hand out.

My support for anything positive for anyone isn’t race based. If you can explain to me how making this a “national holiday” will fix the “ills” you constantly cry about I’m all ears.
You seemed truly stumped at the question.
At least know I know how to make you quiet. 😂

This holiday is a step in the right direction btw. Not a cure. It signifies that change is continuing to happen. Who isn’t in favor of progress?
As 46 said: “Ultimately Juneteenth doesn't just celebrate the past -- it calls for action today.”

He’s been in office for 50 years and this has been enacted for over 150 years. I don’t care about the holiday one way or the other but I guess there’s over 20 more holidays we need to add.

Making it a national holiday is not in the Constitution. It's an event worthy of a national holiday.

Sad takeaway but I guess I should consider the source

Please do. My kids will never be made to feel oppressed simply by the color of their skin. They will never be taught to blame s**t that happened decades or centuries ago on people alive today. Virtue signaling and race baiting is for the ignorant and weak. It’s hysterical to see a Lexus commercial try to virtue signal to a group of people that will never be able to afford the product they offer and Lexus will never do anything to make their product more available/affordable to the people they claim to stand up for. That’s just one example but it sums up blm and all the other bs up in a nutshell. It’s all smoke and mirrors.

But yet you take every opportunity to crap on AAs, their issues, and their successes. Do you not see your own hypocrisy?

I don’t crap on anyone. People have choices and some people make a lot of bad ones and it has nothing to do with racism.
I have yet to see you call a white person out for making a bad decision not involving race or politics.
