State Department: Juneteenth About Equity, Black Lives Matter, and Systemic Racism.

The United States State Department just posted a tweet, saying, “On #Juneteenth we continue to fight against systemic racism & build a freer, stronger country.” The photo in the tweet says, “The fight for Freedom and Equity continues” with a Black Lives Matter Flag in the background. This should make it crystal clear to GOP politicians that, for the Democratic Party, the now-federal holiday is not about national pride. The holiday now serves only to push forth the left’s radical racially driven agenda. But, can we really trust the GOP establishment to recognize this?

But, it is curious that the GOP senators voted in favor of the holiday when a paltry seven percent of the GOP voting bloc supported making it a national holiday.

“How could you oppose making a holiday to celebrate the end of slavery?” the GOP establishment demanded of its voters. If the Democratic Party was capable of acting in good faith, and passing this bill purely for the sake of national pride and celebrating a historic day, that would be a good question.

But the Democratic Party doesn’t operate that way. They look for power at all costs. They use divisive cultural issues to browbeat Republican politicians who are afraid of being called “racist” over the head into submission so they can craft new laws.

Many of my AA friends are absolutely pissed today about how their celebration is now headed towards becoming another Cinco de Mayo but with a day off.

The car line at my local McDonalds is crazy now and all new workers. They used to know me by my order...lol. Not anymore. That $14/hour starting wage they adverstised must be working for them.

In case you didn’t know, Saturday was a new holiday, another Independence Day to be specific, officially known as “Juneteenth National Independence Day.”

As I covered, only seven percent of the GOP base supported making the celebration a federal holiday. The primary concern of the GOP base was that for the left, the “now-federal holiday is not about national pride. The holiday now serves only to push forth the left’s radical racially driven agenda.” Regardless, the GOP establishment pushed forward with the legislation and handed the left a new tool to browbeat their opponents into submission.

RedState writer Jeff Charles covered some of this exploitation last night. Charles noted that everybody from Joy Reid to Michael Moore to even the Muslim American Society used the holiday to push their leftist ideas.

The Democratic Party is about power and using issues to divide so that they can conquer.

As soon as they get what they want, they jump to the next thing and they keep pushing, and pushing, and pushing until they’ve transformed society.

This was evident as Rep. Maxine Waters of California declared yesterday that the best way to celebrate Juneteenth is to block voter ID and end the filibuster.

“The best way to celebrate #Juneteenth is to get focused, get educated, and realize we are in a fight to protect our right to vote. 14 states are already trying to advance voter suppression laws, and that number will only grow. Let’s celebrate, but let’s act. End the filibuster!” she tweeted.

One Dead, Several Injured after Shooting near Juneteenth Event in Oakland

One person is dead and at least five people are hurt following a Saturday evening shooting in Oakland, California, near a Juneteenth event.

Police responded to reports of shots being fired around 6:22 p.m. near a lake event attended by roughly 1,000 people. Among those shot included five men, aged between 16 and 27, and one 21-year-old woman.

One man, 22, died at a local hospital, while the other five are currently in stable condition, according to police.

Violence Breaks Out At Various Juneteenth Celebrations Across The Country

Several shootings and a riot occurred at Juneteenth celebrations across the country. The Juneteenth holiday, officially established on the federal level Thursday, was celebrated on Saturday.

In North Carolina, an EMS worker was shot while working at a Juneteenth rally in Raleigh. The man was reportedly responding to a child who was in need of medical assistance, according to local news station WRAL.

The first responder was reportedly walking back to the ambulance after helping the person in need when shots rang out at the celebration, striking both the man and the ambulance.

In Flint, Michigan, state police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred during a Juneteenth parade, The Detroit News reported.

The preliminary investigation initially showed that the officer was working at a traffic point for the celebration when a car pulled up and opened fire, causing the officer to return fire and strike the suspect.

A celebration gave way to rioting in Long Branch, New Jersey. Hundreds of people took to the streets in a Juneteenth celebration that quickly turned violent, the Lakewood Scoop reported.

Additionally, a shooting in Oakland, California, left at least one person dead and several others wounded, Fox News reported.
