Jurassic World (June 12, 2015)

I'll still go see this, but how many different ways can you tell a story of "genetically modified dinosaurs, destruction, death?"

This looks like less of movie for dinosaur nerds and more of one for monster-movie fans.

We saw the preview in a theater...first 5 seconds, my 9 y/o daughter turns to me and says she wants to see it (doesn like scary at all). When the trailer ends, she turns to me and says, Nevermind ...what was I thinking?
All the people around us started laughing:)

Best trailer I've seen so far simply for the way it's arranged and the narrator's voice distorting.

Two sequels have been planned and apparently, it's getting back to its roots with the focus being put back on the T-Rex.

Critics reviews are 70% on RT. Actual moviegoer reviews are fairly high.

Movie goers always score things higher than the critics

I've read 3 reviews on various sites I visit regularly. The reoccurring theme is that it tries too hard.

I'm not expecting it to surpass the original; this way I can hopefully enjoy it.

Don't tell me that. I've been looking forward to this.

Keep looking forward to it Freak! It was awesome! I felt like a little kid again

I don't know what "it tries too hard" means exactly. Only thing that I can think of, that they may have been talking about, is that it was jam packed with nods to the original. And IMO they were very tastefully done. Some were more subtle than others but they all brought me back. I really thought it was great!

Will do. Thanks for the feedback.

Looks like I'm done with this thread for a while. I decided to wait till next weekend to see it. Going to see Avengers on opening weekend burnt me out of that so hopefully I can make it another week without finding out to much!

This. If you don't have fun watching this movie, then you're dead inside. Yes, it's silly at times, but you know that going in. For the first time ever, I actually felt like I got my money's worth with the IMAX 3D, too.

It's a dinosaur movie. I was 10 when the original came out, it was my favorite movie. I've read the book many times. There were many references to the original. Again, it's a dinosaur movie. I liked it. Was good.

I just saw it. It was pretty dang good. Nothing will top the original but it is definitely better than 2 and 3. This one has an entire new perspective.

I absolutely loved it. Went Thursday night and fully expect to see it a second time in theaters. If you have 30 minutes to dick around online, go to Jurassic World. It's set up like an amusement park website instead of a movie website so there's a bunch of cool stuff like an interactive map, etc.

Nothing will beat JP1, but this one is definitely #2.

Several pros & cons I don't care to list, but I do wish it were a REAL PG-13 instead of today pg-13.

Well reviews be damned it broke the 2012 opening weekend set by Avengers.
