Jurassic World (June 12, 2015)

If this beat the Avengers record, I can't imagine what Star Wars will do.

I know if I had a movie that was supposed to come out in December I'd be doing everything in my power to move it to either an earlier or later date. I would not want to compete at all with the Star Wars movie.

Took the fam to 3D IMAX. What a ride. The boys may end up in our bed tonight, but it will be worth it.

Star Wars is going to be ridiculous.' It will set all kinds of records. The fanbase has grown substantially since 1999, when it was introduced again.

It's funny, but as much as people like to bash the prequels, it did create a whole new fanbase and awareness for Star Wars. It's not like it killed it, like some people try to pretend.

I saw it on Saturday. It was a fun ride with lots of action and a good story. I'd see it again, the kids really enjoyed it as well. It was just scary enough for them to not give them nightmares and the ending was fantastic too. The only thing I believe was missing was when Chris Pratt was walking off, I wish he would've started singing "Everything is awesome!". LOL...

Damn amazing movie. My son was crazy over it and can't stop talking about the ending battle. It was amazingly well done. Just the right amount of story and flash. Not like the last one that had plenty of flash but fell flat with the actual story.

Well this movie was laughably bad. The jokes were awful, characters weren't likeable, bad character development, borrowed way too much from the first JP, acting was subpar and at times bad, the story didn't make sense and was often broken to me, it was so unrealistic that it wasn't enjoyable. A huge disappointment for me. The one thing that it boasts is it CGI. Really? Damn near every blockbuster movie has this now. It no longer impresses me.

i thought it was a fun movie but the last 15 minutes was a bit over the top

Over the top???

I'm sorry, what were you hoping for? I go to see this kind of movie hoping for nothing else but over the top.

Flying dinosaurs eating people, a whale piranha, and a genetically-modified T-Rex/Raptor? Yes, please!

Wait....a.....minute....a movie about a theme park of dinosaurs.....and your saying just the last 15 minutes were over the top!? Lol

The last 15 minutes was my favorite part.

lol that's fair. i liked all of the action and everything up to that point and i thought it was a really fun movie overall. i guess the end was just a bit much for me with the

t-rex and veloci raptors teaming up and then the giant fish thing killing the main dinosaur. i guess maybe corny would have been a more appropriate word

Sounds like you went in expecting Shawshank Redemption and got Jurassic Park...

Sarcasm?

Must've seen a different movie than me...I'll see it again.

Saw JW tonight. Miles better than JP2 or 3. Still not on the same level of the original, but it was still a ton of fun to watch. I liked the nostalgia with the winks to the original park. Also, there were a lot of things that this movie borrowed from the novel. The kids visiting the park to serve as a distraction for their parents divorcing is straight out of the novel (though obviously it was Lex and Tim in the book instead of Zach and what's his face in the movie). Also, the waterfall scene with the I-Rex is straight out of the novel. Nice tributes.

Good call. It's been years since I read the book. I definitely remember that now that you mention it though.

Jurassic World - 4/5

I really enjoyed it. I especially liked the nods to the original. I thought there should have been more of nod to John Hammond than the name on the wall. A prominent statue or something would have been better. I really liked the kids coming across the original visitors center.

A very solid restart to the franchise but I can't figure out on where they go from here.

Probably the best part of the film was hearing the original John Williams score again!

Saw it yesterday. Let's get this out of the way, I cried manly tears when the original theme played as the camera panned over the park. It was good for what it was: a fairly self aware, monster movie that is a loving homage to the original. The more I think about it, the more I like it.

Say what you want about all JP movies being over the top/laughable, but the first one had style, along with some genuinely frightening scenes.

I wasn't expecting this to be The Godfather of sci-fi films, I was just hoping for a smidge of the magic the original had.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (done by the same writing team as JW) was much, much better than JW imo.

that said, though, it did have one of my favorite moments in any JP movie, and that's when the random guy was making sure he had his cups of alcohol (or whatever it was he was drinking) when the pterodactyls were attacking all of the tourists.

Saw it, was better than expected. Still doesn't top the first but I wasn't expecting it to. Plot was pretty predictable and, yes, I thought the end was a bit over the top. Dinosaurs flip flopping alliances and cooperating with humans?? c'mon maaaan.

Character development felt rushed and sometimes nonexistent with major characters; Dr. Woo and the handler chick might as well have been cardboard cutouts.

Was entertaining non-the-less for a summer blockbuster
