And that's fine I will take JG and his NFL experience against him! JG is not out of the running yet because there is still an opening!
:hi:

Tennessee Ike

Assuming JG is still in play, is he really the guy we want if he says he does not want to be here? If his only incentive is money, then what do we do when he bolts to the NFL in 2 or 3 years? .... Where does the program go from there?

If he was hired, he would be the most likely coach in the SEC to jump ship given a chance.

Because he will quickly find out that coaching 17-23 year olds and running a big time college program is totally different than coaching grown ass men in the NFL. He will run back to the NFL the first chance he gets where he's comfortable!! Vis versa with Saban Spurrieor and Petrino. They are college coach that's where they were successful and comfortable.

Am I really the only one that thinks Petrino is a good hire if he has a clause in his contract that would keep him on the straight and narrow??
He would crawl over here given the chance.

Just can't take a chance on Petrino. He did things at Louisville and the Falcons that were unethical but what he did at Arkansas was flat wrong. Arkansas firing him saved them from liability (at least so far) but the next school could be held liable because of prior knowledge of his actions. According to common law, the first time your dog bites someone you are not liable. After that you should know that your dog may strike again. Therefore your liable. It is kind of like that IMO.

I'd be embarrassed as a SEC fan to have him back in the conference!

I admit I was on the Gruden train but in my mind I thought if hired it would be a gamble. he could recruit a top 5 class on name alone but I was worried if he could win in the SEC. I dont knwo what the right answer is but I do know I dont want another Dooley. I want someone that can at least compete in the SEC and sell a once proud program to potential recruits.

There are smart football fans and there are front runners that don't know Jack about the game!! Y'all are acting like Gruden was this lord and savior just because y'all see him on MNF every week!! Mr Hart said he wants a proven COLLEGE coach and Gruden ain't no proven college coach. You people are acting like a bunch of fools running around "the sky is falling cuz we didn't get almighty Gruden" so what get over it!! I told y'all it wasn't going to happen look at other successful coaches IN COLLEGE!! But noooo!! So Guess what HE AIN'T COMING, get ahold of yourselves!!

Since you clearly consider yourself a "smart football fan", please tell me who else you would hire who could beat Saban and Florida and go toe to toe on recruiting with the best, as well. Go on, I'm waiting...

Coach Matthews said the Petrino hire would be tough for any of the SEC schools because its the Bible Belt and he over stepped moral laws to many. Now that should have NOTHING to do with coach football but it is what it is but somebody might say F'it let's pick him up. I'm not much on his style but who knows.

No one cares about the one on the right staining the blouse of the one on the left.....he is a rock star among the hippies to this day....I'm just saying.

I agree. I actually have thought that Jimbo Fisher was main target all along. It looks like a stronger possibility. Wouldn't count out Larry Fedora either.

Would love both of these hires, if Gruden WANTED to be here it would have been done. He did not WANT to be here so UT football needs to move on. I really believe both of these guys could be the one to lead UT back to our rightful spot in the SEC!! THE TOP!

I know I will get bashed for asking this. How about take a gamble on Chavis and keep the current staff minus Sunseri. he loves UT and has alot of years vested in the program. Ouir offense was good enough to score points on anyone in the country, our defense just sucked.

Fisher and Stoops both can, both cut their teeth in the SEC coaching and recruiting!! Stoops was the DC under Spurrieor and Fisher under Saban at LSU. Both has recruiting ties in the state of Florida and stoops has Texas and Oklahoma. And although Tressel got caught up in some BS at Ohio State he has a NC and a HUGE recruiting Base in Ohio. Tressel is a long shot because of NCAA sanctions but he is a successful COLLEGE coach

I would love Gary Patterson. But do you really think Hart is going to offer him the 5 million a year it would take to get him here? I hardly ever hear anyone say that Patterson is one of the guys we're looking at, so I'd be surprised if Hart even tried to contact him.

Roman? WHat do you know about him? I don't know anything, except that he's a Harbaugh guy and that he's had success with Harbaugh. It's a big leap to think he could have success on his own and that he could compete with the likes of Saban.

I honestly think Chief is happy just bring a DC. And damn good one at that

Fisher? When has he ever beaten anyone who had more talent? He's in a recruiting goldmine and just has to worry about ACC competition and he still loses to weaker opponents and has a struggling offense (his specialty) every year.

Tressel got whipped by all the SEC teams when he was at Ohio State and had tons of NFL players, what makes you think he's going to come to Tennessee and magically start beating Saban here?

Stoops could maybe get us back to the level of competing with Alabama and Florida, but there's no way he comes here, so it's a moot point (Same with Chip Kelly).

What people like you don't understand is it's not about the adultery, it's about putting the university into possible legal problems. He broke state and federal laws hiring and promoting his girlfriend and he lied to his boss. He wsn't fired for having an affair, he was fired because he broke those laws and then tried to cover it up.
