Agreed, but...

Us UT fans who have nothing left but our "Tradition" to brag about would never stoop to hiring the head coach of Vanderbilt. Even though he has proven that his is a great coach and recruiter.

I am surprised at the Stoops talk. He just built a huge mansion in Norman in a highly visible location. Looks like he has planted a flag and is there for the long term.

this myth that a coach that did well outside the SEC can't do well in it is just that - a myth

Saban cut his teeth in the big 10, Meyer cut his teeth out west, Les Miles in the big 12, sumlin at houston - all have been winners

Tressel would do very well here - im not sure i would hire him considering we are on probation - but he would do well

simple truth is there are many significant upgrades to DD that are likely in play - Jimbo, Fedora, Stoops, Tressel, Petrino - all are HUGE upgrades to the coaches we have had the last 4 years

This +1000. A good coach from outside the SEC can come in and do well at UT. It will take some time to get back to where we were in the 90's but it can and will be done. Everyone needs to calm down and take a chill pill. Better days are coming.

If Hart does not hire Stoops, Patterson, Gundy or Peterson (or somehow mend the fence and hire Gruden), he needs to be shown the door. I'm mature enough to know that you don't make a move like firing your head coach without a plan. In this case, a damn good plan. From what I see, there was no plan other than to try and deflect criticism over the VU loss with a kneejerk firing. Not gonna say Hart shouldn't be our AD until I see the fruit of his efforts, but I'm really close to it.

Gruden would have been a great spark for a down program. Recruiting would improve and excitement would have been at a high level.

He would have still lost a lot of games next year and wouldn't have been a sure thing, no matter what others say. Too many factors.
We just need a coach that can enliven the program and sign a few ballers. We can do it without gruden. Would've been entertaining, but oh well.

Exactly! If Gruden really wanted to coach here then surely they would have done everything possible to make it happen.
