We suck, just face it. Tennessee is not ready to play big boy football. Period. Vandy is even taking it to us, this is embarrassing to say the least get used to being about the 10th best in SEC play boys.

I HOPE you're the only one! I remember when everybody was giving Kiffin Hell for leaving UT. This pos Petrino is 10 times worse than Kiffin. He has no loyalty to anything.

Don't understand these ppl thinking gruden is savior. Even if he was hired he doesn't take the field on Saturdays. Fans kill me saying if no gruden then they were not going to be vol fans or complain all the time. I honestly would rather them not be fans then listen to them complain. We need to support whoever it is . He's still a vol

We would be in a different situation if we had a better defense but hey just about any coach we get should be better than Dooley.The coaches we are looking at all have a winning record and have proven they can win.

what about James Franklin? Heck, he won at Vandy and really didn't have much to work with other than a couple of ballplayers. He is getting good recruiting classes for them, just think what it would be at UT.

Nice straw man argument. I never said Gruden was a savior, but I think he had a better chance of beating Saban (and Florida) than your other candidates, because they've already shown me good reasons for why they couldn't get it done (as I explained in my previous post). I can't say for certain Gruden could, but most prognosticators would agree he should be able to get top recruiting classes and he's respected as one of the top coaches in the world, so there's reason for hope. And that's all I'm asking for here, hope. I don't want to have to keep suspending my reason to try to convince myself that the guy we hire has a shot at competing with Alabama and Florida, when his record suggests otherwise. And I never said that Gruden is our only hope either. I think we could make a go of things with petersen or Patterson too. But I have very little faith that Hart will even put in the effort to try and get them here.

The coaches at Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Miami, Florida State, Baylor, North Carolina or Louisville will come to U.T. With the exception of Louisville, all of those universities have better recruiting area's than U.T. does and 75% of a program is the players.

Nebraska better than UT for recruiting? Put the crack pipe down! North Carolina, if any better, is only marginally better. I think you could even argue OU and OSU. Yeah, they border Texas, but that's about it. Part of the lure of OU is the tradition and they have always got players from Texas and still do. I would put OSU about even with Tennessee. Only the Florida schools have a CLEAR advantage. Even though Baylor is in Texas, they have almost no tradition and are a private school with a Baptist background...not that attractive to a lot of today's young recruits.

I agree that Stoops, Gundy and Fisher are unlikely to come to UT, but I really don't care for Fisher or Gundy that much anyway. I think any of the others are in play.

My only concern with Strong is that Louisville has publically committed to keeping him. There was a rumor that he interviewed today though. I would take him in a heart beat.

Yea but jimbo would be a huge miss in my opinion. He always has a top rated class yet they seem to underachieve every year. With they recruits they have had, they should have won a championship by now. Right now I think stanfords coach is gonna be a threat on a national standpoint before long.
