Just to clear up the dissatisfaction...

more the disappointment of following up a season where people were ecstatic with last year and thought the Vols had reached the top tier of the sport. Look at the pre season hype about Squirrel and Joe, people were saying Squirrel would surpass Hyatt’s stats and Joe with the scheme would be in the Heisman conversation. How many times did people talk about how far Joe could throw it? Joe is a great athlete not a great qb he couldn’t play at Michigan and he can’t play here. The Joe train started after the Clemson win, Clemson was not a good team last year but were trading on the past several years of success. Expectations were so far beyond reality.
You've learned a valuable lesson. Never listen to people that try to feed you wild hype.

Nick Saban was a national title winning coach and told Bama his terms for coming.

Also Saban will go down as the GOAT. Quit comparing Heupel to him.

How about Meyer, Les Miles, Mark Richt, Kirby Smart, or any good coach. Most of them had a breakout 3rd year.

Alabama was in a pretty bad spot prior to Saban. People forget that. Granted, I think cheating helped Saban a little as well. I am still convinced Alabama paid players in that 2007-2008 recruiting classes.

The key for this year was the loss @ Florida to Sunbelt Billy. It was what ruined this season. That made the season a disaster. No reason to lose that game. I am fine with Heupel and direction of overall program but let's call a spade a spade, this season wasn't a good season.

Urban Meyer went 9-4 in season 3 after a title winning season.

Les Miles went 12-2 and won the natty in his 3rd season after going 11-2 in seasons 1 and 2.

Kirby Smart went 11-3 in season 3 after a natty appearance in season 2….

All 3 guys didn’t walk into a transfer exodus, crap recruiting, and scholarship sanctions.

I feel like this happened after the Bama loss. The second half beat down plus injuries have put this team in neutral..... Seems like they don't believe in themselves anymore.

Not a vindication of Heupel as a whole but this year was a disappointment. Call it what it is. Beat Florida, and it isn't. Florida is a 5-7 team. You don't lose to 5-7 teams and call it a successful season.

Did Memphis lose 1 of their starting WRs against Missouri after already being down 1 starting WR? I mean, you can be a fan of the Tiger football team. There is always an open seat at the game.
I'm not sure how Memphis did it...I was just looking at various team records the other day in no particular order and thought the score was interesting. Maybe the Mizzou players were abducted by aliens the night before and their memories of their playbook were erased...who knows.
🤷‍♂️
Who are you a fan of ? Do you have season tickets to a team ?

From what I am seeing, the outrage and dissatisfaction is not because of a 7-4 record. It is because of the effort or lack thereof and not even being competitive in those 4 losses.
I would add that we are not seeing the development of new players for next year and we are not recruiting at the level of the elite programs that we have to play against.

Is it really a lack.of effort as much as we were simply worn down on defense? Sure, there were some lapses where players showed poor effort. But generally speaking I think our offense was inefficient, and our defense could not hold up over the course of the game. And unfortunately, we were also outmatched in the trenches the last two games. But, I wouldn't put it as an effort issue. Maybe a lack of discipline and focus st times.

A little bit of both?

We weren’t “worn down” against Florida. We made them look 10x better than they are. We were extremely competitive against Bama in the 1st half, came out more conservative than Butch in the 2nd half.

The last game honestly went as expected as hurt as we are. Other than the drops….we can’t win consistently with 3-4 drops a half most of which occur on 3rd down.
