Right now, we sit with the #9 class on Rivals, with 2223 points.
However, let's look at some possibilities with 4 spots left... (keep in mind, other schools will add to their classes, most likely. Georgia only has 19 as of right now. We have 23 commits, but two haven't signed, so we have 4 spots left, I believe).

If we add Darnell Washington and no one else, our class will jump to 2,436 points, which would be good for 7th, and we would jump Florida, making us 5th in the SEC.

If we add Darnell Washington AND Jay Hardy, our class will jump to 2,594 points, which would be good for 5th place, and we would jump Georgia, making us 3rd in the SEC.

If we were to somehow add Darnell Washington, Jay Hardy, Demon Clowney (though I don't think we are going for him honestly)....our class would jump to 2,751 points, still 5th place, and still 3rd in the SEC.

If we were to somehow add Darnell Washington, Jay Hardy, Demon Clowney, Dee Beckwith, our class would jump to 2,841 points, which would be good for #4 class nationally, and 2nd in the SEC.

Also in the realm of possibility (though not really): Sign Washington, Hardy, Chris Morris (who didn't sign yesterday) AND Antonio Johnson (who also didn't sign yesterday and was once committed to us). That would be good for 2,952 points, and good for second in the nation.

Ger-Cari Caldwell would not factor in, since he is a two star, nor would Miller or Williamson if they end up signing. Only the top 20 prospects get included in class's ranking.

Again, I don't think that this all will happen. But it does go to show what we could have, and how close this class is to being in the top 5 as of now. Great job by Pruitt this time around. Hope you enjoy, just got bored today.

It will be very interesting to see how this class fills out. I think if this class added 0 more big names to round out our final numbers, it would still be a very good class. Adding either Washington/Hardy would make it a great class. Both would be a statement class. This is a great scenario for fans of Vol recruiting because even if we miss on these guys, we have an excellent class to fall back on. It's going to be a fun ride to finish this thing out.

I think you did not take into account that we aren't the only college that hasn't maxed out our class yet...

Fun all the same though

I would rather evaluate the class from two years ago. Who panned out and who hasn't yet? I get that ranking systems have their value, but if Bailey for example drops 35 spots does that make him any less talented?

But this thread isnt about the class from two years ago, its about this years class.

Well, I can tell you that only 20 of the Rivals 250 are undecided at this point. Rivals counts the commits, not the signees. So, those players will effect rankings and scores once they commit, but most of the classes are very near being filled out. There are flip possibilities, but I think we can guarantee at this point a Top 15 finish, even if Hardy/Washington don't sign with us.

Honestly, do you really think there is a difference between 9th and 7th ?

Can they bump HB to a 5 star later?

Honestly, bumping Bailey to a 5 star would help as much as moving Hyatt to a 5.9 4*. Every decimal point up is an additional 15 points. So while Bailey going to a 5 star would be awesome, ANY of our players moving up at all would be great.

Also, Bailey moving up in the Rivals 250 would help as well. Or more players joining it, or moving up. You get additional points for where you are in the 250. So far HB, Lawrence, Big O, Tyler Baron, Calloway, French, Eason, are on it. Would love to see some other guys jump on it. Washington, Hardy, Clowney, Chris Morris and Antonio Johnson are also all on the 250 as well. They give an extra boost to the score.

In my view, the class that is overrated is UGA. If you look at them objectively, they have no great options at QB moving forward unless Beck is somehow ready to step in and play early (indications are that he is not). Their best options at RB are a kid (White) with two bad knees that can't cut and hasn't regained his burst and another kid (Cook) who is "troubled" to say the least. They signed a big kid out of Cal who could help but is untested against SEC competition. I don't see them improving their ability to score points. Their fan base is rightfully unhappy with the state of the Offensive Coaching Staff. Despite our ranking compared to theirs, in my opinion we have taken big strides toward closing the gap.

Nope, I don't.

But I do think there's a difference between a team with Darnell Washington, and a team with no Darnell Washington.

I want the Jimmy's and Joe's, don't care about the "rankings." Rivals are idiots anyways. However, it is fun to look at.

if he drops 35 spots that would make him 35 spots less talented

ok, I'm bored too.

If you're Taulia and Paul Tyson at Bama, do you consider the portal? Where do you go?
Completely unbiased, OU, GA, LSU, or Fla. Great programs with smaller qb rooms at the moment. Idk tho, something tells me they are both homers and stick with Bama. Taulia really did himself a disservice by signing with them just because his brother plays there. Though, daddy Tagovailoa may have something to do with that.

Ranking don't mean a lot to me. They are nice to look at but in the end it's the coaching and the weight room that makes the difference on the field. Remember how Butch handled the weight room and what it lead to . As I recall the RB Brown was the highest rated player to ever sign with Tennessee. Most recall how that one turned out.
