Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away

No I'm being realistic. Graham can think he has the votes but he won't know until the vote is called and tallied. Dems have all sorts of delay tactics they can employ. Conditions/situations change. We are at best right at election time before a vote could even occur. More likely, it will drag into post election time. Much can change. Even if Graham can get it out of Judicial that doesn't guarantee success at the full vote. Mitch thought he had the ACA replacement vote too until McCain defected. UVA had better odds against UMBC.

You can't admit that predictions of what might occur, even if likely are not facts.
Sure... yeah... okay.

Prediction: Tennessee will beat South Carolina on Saturday.
Fact: I will be drunk out of my mind on Saturday.

He's going to replace a woman on the SC with another one.

You have a problem with that?
No, I don't ... but I wasn't critical of Joe Biden for announcing that his running mate would be a woman either. There sure as hell were a lot of Republicans /conservatives /Trump supporters on here who were critical of Biden when he announced that, though.

Consistency > Hypocrisy

Two posts up explains the difference. But I'll do it again here:

One person nominated a woman as a gimmick. One person didn't. I'll give you some time to figure out which is which.
(hint: one loser presidential candidate tried this already)

I'm not entirely convinced this isn't a gimmick by Trump. He announced he'd choose a woman. Is he doing that because he actually believes a woman is the best choice, or is he trying to smooth things over? Reasoning is what decides if it's a gimmick. Biden announced well in advance his choice would be a black woman, but he didn't know who. He was obviously pandering to a distinct crowd. That's what made it a gimmick. Is Trump doing the same? TBD.

There isn't anything about choosing a Senator from the largest state in the country as a running mate a "gimmick". You would find fault with anyone that Biden had selected.

Replacing one woman with another isn't a gimick and it helps offset the other two crazy lesbo dim justices.

The fact that you believe that shows how public education has failed this country. Bidens pick is 100% a gimmick. Carry on.

IMO, it depends on whether or not he truly believes she's the best candidate. You pick the best candidate regardless of gender, race, creed, or religion. If you're picking a woman to just pick a woman, that's a gimmick.

Picking a woman helps to keep democrats from using their tired "they raped me" scheme...although I do expect to see that accusation come up next week...just wondering if they will choose a man or a woman.

Also choosing people based on merit died decades ago bro.

The way he went about it, definitely a gimmick. He announced well in advance his choice would be a black woman. He narrowed his field well before knowing who he would actually choose. That screams gimmick IMO.

But is she the best candidate? There's all kind of reasons to use a gimmick, that doesn't make it less a gimmick.

If Vader Ginsburg wanted to solidify her legacy, she should have retired under Obama instead of dying under Trump. Silly dims!

End of the day, every SCOTUS pick is pretty much a gimmick because it's all about choosing someone who'll advance your politics, not someone who will rule fairly and according to the letter of the law.

I think you would have found fault with whoever he had chosen, and however he had gone about it. Harris was as good a choice as anyone that he had to choose from.

Have I criticized Harris in our exchange? Nope. I've criticized how Biden went about making his choice. I've done the exact same on how Trump is going about making his SCOTUS choice. That's called being unbiased. You should try it some time.

This is such a stupid putdown on a forum that is designated for fans of sports teams who represent a public university. Yes, I graduated from a public university, and I would venture that 90% of the posters on VolNation did as well... seeing as how the University of Tennessee is a public school after all.

He's 82 so I would imagine there's a good chance of that
Yeah, he's now the oldest justice. It would make sense if he's playing the political game(which I hate). But you would have thought RBG would have done the same. Guess she was convinced Hillary would win, too.
