Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has passed away

No there’s always choices to be made . You don’t get to lay everything off on the right nominating Trump . After his nomination ( people had choices ) after his election ( people had choices ) during his term ( choices ) after he’s gone ( choices ) .. again you can’t keep standing up bad choices and not expect them to eventually bite you in the azz
That's exactly what I'm saying about the Trump fiasco.
You can't make and then cling to horrible choices without eventually being bitten in the azz.

The vote is happening. Mitch would never float it unless he had the votes. With that said, the GOP is basically burning every bridge they have for it with Millennials.
How dare the gop do exactly what the Dems asked for just 4 years ago. Many of those same leaders are supported by the current millennials.

That’s on their on , imagine having a whole support team helping with that endeavor.
This is true.... I had a female at a facility still doing people taxes.... she would have moments where she was fine and then get some kind of mall infection/illness and she wouldn’t know what world she was in.... it was a constant roller coaster with her cognition level.... I hope those people never get audited.

If you need legal representation in court do you want a nice guy or do want a horse's a$$ to represent you? OJ Simpson chose the latter and walked because of it.

In politics, who do you want going up against guys like Putin or Kim Jong-un? Personally I want the SOB on my side. I don't want Mother Teresa.
I want a person of character. Otherwise you may get someone who secretly colludes with Putin while lying directly to the American public.

Yep..... it amazes me that they complain about conservatives being hypocrites while acting like it is ok that liberals are just as big hypocrites while it is the exact some subject.

Yeah.... I don’t want someone that lies to the American public...... fracking/no fracking joe Biden.

Update on breakdown of Senators who may vote against a Trump appointee, based on comments that I'm aware of since:

Opposed to confirmation:

Collins (ME)
Murkowski (AK)

No public declaration yet, but possibly opposed to confirmation:

Romney (UT)
Rand (KY) (possibly - wildcard)
Sasse (NE) possibly - but unlikely)

Publicly supported confirmation:

Alexander (TN) (retiring)
Gardner (CO) (Will lose badly in re-election)

The GOP Hypocrites that have publicly supported confirmation:

Grassley (IA) “It only makes sense that we defer to the American people who will elect a new president to select the next Supreme Court justice," Grassley said. (2016)

Graham (SC) “If an opening comes in the last year of President Trump’s term, and the primary process has started, we’ll wait to the next election,″ Graham said in 2018 at an event hosted by The Atlantic magazine. Reminded that he was speaking on the record, Graham said: “Yeah. Hold the tape.″ (2018)

McConnell (KY) "“I can now confidently say the view shared by virtually everybody in my conference, is that the nomination should be made by the president the people elect in the election that’s underway right now,” McConnell told reporters following Senate Republicans’ first closed-door meeting after Scalia’s death. “I believe the overwhelming view of the Republican Conference in the Senate is that this nomination should not be filled, this vacancy should not be filled by this lame duck president…The American people are perfectly capable of having their say on this issue, so let’s give them a voice. Let’s let the American people decide. The Senate will appropriately revisit the matter when it considers the qualifications of the nominee the next president nominates, whoever that might be.” (2016)

Cruz (TX) "I proudly stand with my Republican colleagues in our shared belief -- our advice and consent -- that we should not vote on any nominee until the next president is sworn into office." (2016)

Bottom line is the up/down vote right now is 51-49 in favor of GOP (assuming all Dems and Inds vote to oppose).

Tie breaker is broken by Pence, so 2 more Senators must flip to stop nomination process. Not looking good for Dems.

While I'm SMH and the GOP, it's no surprise. The good news is these events will only bring out droves of blue in 42 days. Buh bye, Donald.

By Rand (KY) you mean Sen Paul? I don't see any chance of him going against this.

Here's a question I have. Does it make a difference if Senators abstain rather than vote no?

Yep, keep thinking that. This will play badly with Millennials, and don't get me started on Gen Z. Mitch will get his nominee, but he is destroying every road with us and them in the process.

Now put yourself in Mitch and the Republicans shoes .. 4 years of being trashed by the left ( millennials and zers ) being told they are going to burn the system to the ground , kick you out of office , not let you even eat in public , come to your house and threaten to burn it down , threaten your family , burn buildings , loot , riot and hurt people because you don’t get your way .... you have a choice to place a 3rd Republican on the SCOTUS and flame out , or wait and take a chance on Biden placing a left leaning activist then just fade away . I don’t know how you what you would choose , but I would flame out while giving millennials and gen z’ers the double bird and smiling from ear to ear . 🤷‍♂️

The dems asked for consistency and the following of established precedent.
That's exactly what the GOP is demanding now? Hardly.
The GOP said to hell with consistency and established precedent, we will do what's in our self interest.
That's exactly what they are saying now.

I guess in that way they are consistent.

Unlikely, I agree. But, he always relishes playing the spoiler. An abstention would count as a 'no' vote in this instance.

I spent 7 years watching my dad do it with Parkinson’s. It’s pretty amazing . The only thing they can’t hide is when they don’t get enough rest or “ sundown “ .

They're only calling for it now since they failed before. All their arguments 4 yrs ago were that precedent should be the exact opposite of what is happening today. They are absolutely being hypocrites and it's hilarious to watch the machinations required to defend any of these clowns on either side

Well from my point of view .. the “cosmic injustice “ isn’t falling on the right . The left by virtue of putting all there eggs in the get rid of Trump and sink the right at all costs basket is now seeing the cost of it and it’s salty .

I have had whole discussions with people about family, married life, kids that seem entirely lucid only to find out none of it was true.

The average, moderate Americans are seeing rioting, looting and burning, violence and intimidation becoming the norm. They're not stupid enough to miss the fact that it's fringe left but also that mainstream Dems have implicitly supported it, and would only posture as "law and order" candidates when the polls turned. They were the ones asking where it says that protests have to be peaceable?

Now they hear the Dems saying, "Give us the Supreme Court or we won't be held responsible for what we do".

I don't think this is helping the Ds come election day as much as they think it is. As a matter of fact, I believe the Ds know they are in deep **** come election day, else they wouldn't be pushing for mail-in voting like they are.

lol.......They asked to follow precedent.
Now they are asking to follow the new precedent that was established.
If I had to allocate hypocrisy points in this: Dems 20 Repubs 80

Repubs will gladly take the hypocrisy hit if it means getting their gal (why appoint a woman) in, and even more importantly sticking it to the dems.
